That's exactly what I said. Belle Vue need to win their remaining away fixtures and hope BOTH Leicester and MIldenhall don't win meetings you'd expect them to win. Stranger things have always happened (look how Belle Vue themselves blew it last season), but a top-two finish is looking unlikely.

I thought Belle Vue were the strongest team by far last year, even before they added Mulford, still can't believe how they managed to miss out on the top 4!

Purely thier terrible record on the road. Everyon was winning at Plymouth and Edinburgh last year and Belle Vue failed in both....not helped by a rider no show at Armadale that would have had a big say on the result....

Unlucky with fixtures there.  Beaten by a strong Plymouth side with Gilkes and Atkins.  After Belle Vue had been, Gilkes got injured, Atkins spat his dummy and left, and every other team were gifted 4 easy points.

To be fair Kent went to Plymouth first and got an away win. Agreed that 'circumstances' changed a tough away fixture into a 4 point certainty and timing plays its part. Had the weather been nicer on the day Ablitt might have left home and Belle Vue would have won at Armadale

Definitely a juggling act. Need to keep a core most seasons to help with home track advantage. Sadly Smith never travels well which eats a big chunk of points and most teams are strong at home this year which makes the task even harder.

Also a cost consideration too I would imagine..

The big scores at home will need some balance as I would think there isnt too much profit made running a "junior team"...

Nor will many fans (if any at all), travel away to watch them, so winning at home and being "competitive " away wont be the worst plan in the world..
