The club is a absolute shambles unfortunately. Track, team, results, crowds, take your pick. For those o us who have been going since the last century in particular its painful and so demoralising.

GeneralMelchett
Getting dixked at home is never fun - from a Sheffield perspective its good to see Ellis back scoring his form was a concern. Stars fans 2023 is over lets hope for better in 2024, the teams looks woefully weak now - Lambert however is a bright spot for you!

Keith Chapman doesn't prepare the track. Keith Chapman didn't pick the team, so can't be blamed for the poor results. He's having to now so as to keep King's Lynn running for the remainder of the season. He's had to inherit an expensive rider in Artem Laguta, but has kept on board for the supporter's sake. The man is doing the best he can having to take on the financial side of the club, that he'd got rid of. I think we all know, that the team that was put together at the start of the season was poor decision making, but not the fault of Keith Chapman, as he had no financial input into the club, and just financed Peterborough to keep them afloat. Poor side I know, but the Pedersen didn't help, and I don't know who was responsible for putting the team together anyway, although I suspect it probably was Keith Chapman. To be fair, on paper, they didn't look a bad side, and should be doing better than they are. Neither club are producing racing of the quality that they used to, due to the track material that's being used. Whether that's down to cost, or unavailability of 'Red Shale' who knows. I know that Leicester have red shale, and the racing is worse there than either King's Lynn or Peterborough. But with regards to King's Lynn, I think Keith Chapman is receiving a lot of undeserved criticism. A man who bought the stadium, saved the speedway many years ago, and has provided the fans with some excellent years, and now some not so good years, and not his fault this season as already mentioned, but this sort of thing happens in any team sport. It's also been mentioned about poor crowds, but which team in the Premiership are enjoying really good crowds in this difficult financial time for us all with the cost of living, I can't think of one? Peterborough seems to be hold up quite well. Ipswich far from satisfactory compared to the past. Sheffield, Belle Vue, and Wolverhampton pretty abysmal, and Leicester, very poor. Sports club supporters seem to be very fickle when their club isn't doing well, none more so than speedway, but it's times like this, that your respective club in whatever sport, needs and deserves our loyalty and support through the not so good times, not just walking away from it.

I admire all those riders who take to track, just not to earn money, but entertain the public. There's been so much criticism of two clubs in particular, but in all walks of life, we all have have our own level of ability at whatever our job or recreational activities might be, and speedway riders are doing their best (well most of the time!!). They are putting their lives on the line in an to attempt to entertain us, and we should praise them for that, not keep knocking them.

It's the material used that puts a lot of the the riders off, im sure it's been said that Chapman uses a clay based mixture rather then just shale at both Lynn and Peterborough and it creates a very grippy track so it seems, the main problem is most of today's riders don't like it heavy and grippy and can't ride a grippy track with confidence, Loram and Screen from yesteryear would have a field day and revel in the conditions, a bit like Harris does now at times, but not the majority of today's gating tartsplus the rocket ships they ride nowadays are so much harder to ride compared to bikes of a few years back if the track ain't smooth and slick and prepared just so. 3

Najjer
Out of interest, everybody keeps referring to Lambert saying “as it is” in his interview, but for those of us who haven’t seen it, what’s a quick summary of what he said?

I was taken aback how laid back he was. There was a sun break, so they spoke to him for about 5 mins. When they asked him about his win over Toby, he casually said it was my best win so far, but thats just one race.. When asked about the sun interval .....It will be good for Buster to sell some beer and burgers. He mentioned the teams struggles this season, the track. He said it was grippier in his 2nd ride than his first and he was surprised by that .That kind of thing.. Not having a dig at anyone, just come across as a very laid back kind of bloke. I can't remember it all. I would need to watch it back. 1

Of course, you'll probably get some s#!t for it but why not be open & honest with all, rather than one? This is all every fans wants in the first place. Probably because he will talk to the REAL fans at the stadium & not the ex fans(trolls) on the forum spouting doom & gloom at every opportunity. And there you have it - the exact approach that many promoters and the sport generally takes with regard to its customers! Those no longer attending/attending less regularly but still with an underlying love of the sport are dismissed with disdain when really these need to be listened too constructively Instead only happy clapper ar$elickers sycophantically tugging their forlocks submissivally are desired for conversation Edited July 7, 2023 by dontforgetthefueltapsbruv 2 2
