Poole Pirates Vs Glasgow Tigers Bsn Final 1st Leg 5th July

Recommended Posts

After Friday's first leg wash out up in Glasgow, the Pirates will  now stage the first leg of the final.

The Tigers are in good form and include  track specialist Chris Harris who has been a thorn in the Pirates side on more than one occasion.

Tom Brennan  had a good meeting at Wimborne Road  at Steve Worrals testimonial add in ex Pirate Benjamin Basso and you have a strong top three.

I feel that the Second strings and reserves of both sides could be the difference in determining the outcome of the meeting.

This is where I think the Pirates will be stronger.

Thoughts?

Wow , you are really trying to make this a “tough match “ the reality is POOLE are too strong , it will be a high scoring home match again with only harris trying to make a couple of passes all night .

From being there a couple of times and watching a fair few on tv, passes all night will likely be absent after the second bend. If we dont trap we dont stand a chance.

While I appreciate your acknowledgment of Poole's strength, Shaleshifter is simply paying respect to the opposition!

Looking forward to this big clash in the BSN Final, don't come much bigger than this with our old rivals Glasgow.

No matter who has done what in recent results when it comes to a final anything can happen although being on board the Pirate Ship I think we can edge out a 12 point lead to take up to Scotland for the 2nd leg whenever that may be.

Yes, any news on a 2nd leg date would be most welcome. Got about 16 weeks to fit it in! :D

Depends on the 1st leg score, maybe??? If Poole win big, then the second leg might take months to arrange, if it's close then it might be arranged quicker LOL..... :P

If you take a look at a globe of the world from a distance of about 25 metres away and squint a bit Glasgow and Poole are right next to each other so this technically is a local rivalry and i'm looking forward to seeing both of the Glaspoole encounters

will basso be your trump card at poole ?

think ben has really upped his riding since he has teamed up with his new mechanic Nathan Stoneman  in both leagues but here’s hoping it’s a decent score to make it go down to last Ht at Glasgow

From what I've seen, it's unlikely to be a Friday. 14th and 21st July are both free for both clubs, but sounds like they're not logistically easy for the Tigers. So it might end up being a Sunday or Tuesday. I never know which of those days is preferred. We seem to fluctuate between the two when racing on off-nights.

Vissing is 5th in the Tigers averages, can't help but think this is a slight on Basso?

I would say Nowak is more of a threat than Vissing. He was good at Poole in the 2021 playoff final (his first time there) and his performance was definitely better than his points. So can see him improve on his 6 points.

Since there was more shale been better for passing, but Poole will always be a slick track.

Sunday will be difficult with a few on each team regularly riding in Poland. Although sometimes Tom is a no8, so he might be okay to do England instead?

It's not often a Speedway club would choose to race on their off night? Makes me wonder why Glasgow wanted to move to Fridays if they are not easy to organise?

Maybe waiting for the dates for the 2022 final so there's not a fixture clash lol!

Both teams have strong top fives, think it's the reserve berth where Poole hold the biggest advantage.

They're not normally hard. I think the issue with 14 July is the track is already in use on the Saturday and Sunday, so it's a lot to ask of volunteers. The following week it's rider availability - would've been a good date for the Oxford rematch. Not sure who is not available and why for that date.
