Watched the stream should have been abandoned after heat 1 when Pickering and Morris out of shape, you know things aren’t good.
Joe Thompson broken collarbone in heat 2.

Unfit track what's script with that? Weather?

Would have thought so Edinburgh generally prepare a decent track.

I am sure Blobby will be along to give us his professional insight.

10-15 years ago that would never have been anywhere near being called off, but it seems the riders/bikes, probably more the bikes, just can't cope with conditions like tonight and therefore was the correct decision, but I've certainly watched meetings in far worse conditions without much of a fuss being made.

Remember Edinburgh Vs Glasgow so much water got into tapes was flag start. Peter Carr was on the mic calling Micky Powell a cheat. That would be off the day before now

Had heavy showers this morning which would’ve been perfect and the track was perfect till the constant drizzle hit from 7pm. Then just continued from then on and the track just got worse and worse with no chance to recover. Typical really nice all week then gets to 7pm on the Friday and the rain hits. Oh well we’ll try again another time.

10-15 years ago, people were saying exactly what they are saying today. In fact, when I first started watching speedway in the 1970's people were saying the same thing too.

I would agree but they gave it a go hoping the rain would go off but never.

Ah well worth a go - only cost someone a broken collarbone.......

He tried to go round wood and clipped his back wheel causing him to come off that wasn’t down to conditions.

bad visibility was what caused it  and really they could have held off the start to see  if the weather was going to ease up

That is absolutely gutting for Joe. He has had a terrible season with the way he’s been treated by clubs and now this. Kid can’t catch a break.

Treated by clubs? He was released by Scunthorpe because?  He was going backwards at an alarming rate at Ipswich so not surprised, and neither should you be he was released. Time to get a reality check. Not everything in life is given, you have to work for it. Yes he’s had a terrible season,  but in reality he’s got nobody to blame except himself

Exactly my point, it’s just the way speedway works sometimes. . I can’t see how Scunthorpe or Ipswich have treated him badly.

He was unfortunate to be dropped by Scunny, but they were honest & explained the situation, so I wouldn't say he was "treated badly" as for Ipswich he was scoring terribly (as I expected) so can't have been surprised to be replaced. Ideally riders should be second strings in the Champ before moving up into the Premiership.
