I don't think he will venture into the Championship this season. He made a mistake last year & ended up on an average & had to start the season in the main team, Agreed it went well for him but he could have had a lot more rides from reserve. If he doe's the same this year & ends up saddled with a +5.00 average & unable to start at reserve, I for one will be shocked.

I quite like that though personally, knew he’d be starting in the main body of the team but believed in himself and knew he was good enough to be able to cope and beyond that so fair play imo.

I heard the story a little differently, He was led to believe that some of the meetings he guested at the end of last season in would not count towards his average which is why I suggest he made a mistake.

I am fairly sure he was told unequivocally not to do a fourth meeting, but ignored that advice.

Half the reason the youngsters don't progress is because they can't ride when there's a bit of drizzle...

Because they don’t get chance too. Meetings are called off on weather forecasts sometimes days before the meeting. I have been at ‘rain affected’ meetings where the main match took place, all 15 heats without issues only for the ref to decide it was too ‘dangerous’ for the second half riders to go out despite the fact all of them wanted too ! The youth of today do not get an opportunity to ride in non perfect conditions because they only get to ride on slick , bone dry tracks like they are presented with 95% of the time as that’s what’s produced for them, particularly at the one track open to them every weekend.

You may have seen one very keen youth travel from Plymouth to Redcar four weeks running to hire a track with dirt on it , for private tuition on a championship standard prepared track, and it’s showing in his results, give the youth chance to ride in ALL conditions on ALL tracks. Run u-19 , U-21 ,U-24 British GP rounds at as many tracks that will host them, not one off events on one track.

Like making assumptions based on other peoples tittle tattle….

Im confident enough to form my own opinions from my own experiences. As i said most great champions have a strong arrogant streak, a belief that they will achieve at the highest level. There are also many more who are arrogant, won't be told and have gone on to waste their talents.

So you know him personally ? You know exactly what happened ? and haven’t based your opinion on hearsay and tittle tattle ?

I have my opinion on that.

So a showcase meeting was rightly abandoned in June due to rain and no date for a rerun has been announced! If a meeting is important enough to call a "British Championship" then it should be important enough to make a genuine effort to actually run the event. BSPL keep telling us how they want to support the younger riders and then fail them big time.

Hopefully once Birmingham's play-off fate is decided tonight, could we perhaps hope for some news on a restaging of this event?

Surely it is not too much to ask is it? After all its only a national championship.
