Rain

Recommended Posts

It was wet around lunchtime, but it has been bright and sunny for last six hours.

But if you get a downpour like the one at lunchtime  but half an hour before the start, what can you do?

Answer: call for the magic leaf blower

Thought they had re-done all the drainage?

I don't know that they've redone it all, they've certainly improved it but I assume it can only take so much... probably don't have the luxury of pumping it all out into the rivers like our water company's do!

Same with Sheffield, called off before 1.00 not rained since and currently sunny. My personal opinion is that these promoters  don't deserve any loyalty or backing from fans.

I would suggest that the sport is on a knife edge when it comes to costs..

Some riders will have to be paid, possibly airline and hotel costs, if they arrive..

And those Promoters who rent stadiums will have to pay up after a certain time..

Damned if they do, and damned if they dont...

If it means less of a threat to their survival and growth them it has to have merit...

Speedway fans are a pretty hardy bunch, they must be given the stuff they put up with, so, whilst some will be disappointed, most will attend the next time..

And those who plan to attend, booking hotels, or travelling from 100's of miles away, will, by now I am sure, have realised that such an undertaking is fraught with potential disappointment...

Hats off to Bob Ellis - trackman at Foxhall

Foxhall underwater at lunchtime and in full race order by start time

Shows what can be done by a professional committed promotion with the right team and the right knowledge and skills

Trouble with Leicester I’m told is the track is the lowest part of that area so when it rains all the rain rolls down to the track so not easy to fix  when had lots of rain

They have improved the capacity of the tanks and that's it from what was I told. But I could be wrong. So if it rains the tanks can take more the track remains the same condition
