Wasn't able to attend but the laddie from Leicester in 500s times aren't far off what you'll see in a champ match. Impressive

Ashton Boughen is hopefully a future star in the making, not 16 till august i believe, rode at Oxford on wednesday on a very tricky track and looked like a wily old campaigner.

He's certainly one for the future but not sure that he gained anything from four match races where he finished more than hald a lap ahead. Really we need all competitors to turn up.

Well of you want to be picky, it was 34 heats. I think it was more like 150 people, but definitely well up on last year. The 500cc was a bit of a joke, although Ashton was fast!

Incidentally, what is the technical difference between the two 125cc classes? The heat times were about 6 seconds apart.

I agree with you about Ashton Boughen, he looked like he'd been riding speedway for all his 15 years when in fact he apparently only switched from motocross last year. He looks a natural on a speedway bike and if he takes his career seriously then he could be the real deal. It's been a long time since i saw a real natural speedway rider especially one who looks so at ease and with so much confidence on track and that's with him just coasting out there so the times he put up were only a rough indication of how talented he is.

I loved young Cairnsy's donuts as well.

100% agree with you. Ashton Boughen is definitely a future star. I've seen him race at Oxford twice. He blew me away last year for the Chargers on what was his competitive debut, I think, scoring 7+1 from 4 rides. Then he was superb for Leicester a couple of weeks ago - finishing ahead of Henry Atkins, Dan Thompson and Luke Killeen (including a pass), all Championship reserves. He'll surely be snapped up by a Championship club as soon as he hits 16.

Yeah, that was quality. The 250s provided a few good races. There were a few unrefined but decent riders there, which is exactly what you want to see.

Birthday on 21st August so just over a week to be snapped up.

If he does exceptional in NDL & averages 8, will he not have a converted average of 4 though?

Is the signing deadline still 31st August this season? League fixtures are supposed to be finished by that point.

He could average 10 points in NDL and would still start on a 2 point average. And no matter how well he did in playoffs he'd still be on 2 at the start of next season.
