POOLE V PLYMOUTH, K.O.Cup, 1st leg Weds 3/05/23

Recommended Posts

Track was better! :t:Was it heat 9 when Richie against Ben and Zach, that was good! If any Peterborough fans saw that race they'd be watching between their fingers! :D;)

Like to think 18 will be enough but last time at Plymouth we were 16 down half way through so you never know! Would have taken anything 12+ though. JakeTurner looked better on track, just needs to keep it a bit tighter on the bends :t:

Routine win by Pirates who were not firing on all cylinders tonight. Steve Worrall was below par and Lawson didn’t have his usual edge. But other than Barker with two excellent rides, one in heat 15, it was pretty much one way traffic. Track held up well until about heat 11 when it became a little dusty but not so bad as to affect the racing. Plenty of good racing from the Pirates and Barker. Thought Turner had the speed but lacked the experience. Starke was poor as was Howarth compared to past visits. Eighteen point win and enough to progress next Tuesday in the return.

If Howarth was poor this time then what was he last time? :o Last season he got 17 at Poole, hard to picture that atm. Sure he'll improve when season gets going a bit.

Well done to both Ben's. Zach was sublime and just think how much better Steve and Kyle would have scored without their bike problems!! Anders only took 3 rides 'cos of his shoulder.

So pleased the Pirate CMAs won't change til July 1st. :D

Plymouth look one rider short of a half decent side, Trigger way out of his depth unfortunately.

Yep, imagine that top5 supported by Jason Edwards and Henry Atkins at reserve.

Riders Gary May ditched in a hurry!

Act in haste, repent at leisure!

Hoping Steve can get going as can’t seem to get any consistency with his scores. Certainly when up against teams big hitters he can’t do it currently.

The way it’s going Lawson will be at 1 and Ben at 5 with Steve at 3 at some point. I know averages don’t count currently but fingers crossed he can get himself sorted.

Atkins wasn't ditched by Plymouth or Garry May

Worrall seems to be doing well at Wolves, I can't understand why his Poole scores haven't been great. No need for Poole to worry though, they've proved they are strong enough even with a number one that is off form!

Yeah, is slightly odd considering this is a 'weaker' league. Maybe there is too much pressure now? Not from anyone in particular but more generally with winning league and KO cup last two years. Hard to keep that going.

I don’t think it’s pressure, I just think niggly issues with the bike, I see Steve is on a Rempala motor now, he’s been with Peter Johns for a while

Exactly right. Steve is having issues with machinery/set-ups/tuning at the moment. Getting the correct set ups for both Monmore Green and Wimborne Road is proving difficult for him and his team but he will get it right.
