Beirao
Anyone remember the bizarre quiz in our programme in the early weeks at Hampden in 1969? Anyone got the first clue how to solve it. Seems beyond Mensa, Only Connect etc standards. More than 50 years on and it still completely baffles me! classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/april-2023/anyone-remember-no-

Bryce
There appears to be some kind of information missing as there is no indication of how to even begin.

iris123
Was there no explanation in a programme before the quiz started ?
salty
The only thing you have to go on is the previous weeks answers. Which aren't much help!

Lefty
I've tried: 1: Bingo rhymes... "Ole the Bee #3"..."#48 fast from the gate". 2: Scrabble values 3: Place in the averages! No joy... could I have the "Lion Wall" instead! The only positive was realising there was at least 100 First Division riders!

Beirao
From memory the quiz ran for just three weeks with the example shown being the middle of three and the only one to give answers to the previous weeks quiz. I'm still curious as to who came up with this quiz. Presumably Les Whaley.
daveallan81
The quiz ran for 4 weeks from 18th April until 9th May. The numbers grid remained the same. The results of each quiz were: 18th April - Barry Briggs (12), Ole Olsen (3) and Clive Hitch (48). 25th April - Jim McMillan (30), Ivan Mauger (1) and Jimmy Gooch (96). 2nd May - Soren Sjosten (19), Roy Trigg (6) and Bernie Persson (24). 9th May - Bengt Larrson (11), Bruce Cribb (10) and Ronnie Genz (95). Theories: 1. Entrants made their picks and the promotion simply selected the winners at random and allocated the numbers thereafter. 2. There was a predetermined list of riders and numbers and it was just your luck whether you were correct or not. Either way there was no logic involved. Could it have been a mad attempt to encourage programme sales?

Might just have well have had a "Spot the Ball" on a speedway photo... Edited April 21, 2023 by chunky
midlandred
No.2 above. Each numbered square represents a rider. Choose three numbers and hope they are the correct ones.
