My comment is about a reserve replacement if you had read the original post

Birmingham get a facility for James wright as  he is the 3rd heat leader

The query was about getting facilities for riders who hadn't ridden for a team yet. As the original poster pointed out it used to be 3 pointer

With regards the Sanchez my comment wether he rode in for Birmingham in 2006

if he had rode for Birmingham in 2006 and was named in there 2007 line up and it was approved by the BSPA  then a guest facility would have been available to them  . So the snide comments wasn’t really needed was they ?..

They wasn't was they......?

Sackcloth and ashes for me, Tosh.

But James Wright didn't ride for Birmingham in 2022 but they have been given a facility so you're logic is actually flawed regarding that's why you have one for Kennedy

I think the rules have changed(WHAT? AGAIN?) these last few years & I expected Birmingham to have no facility only a guest up to 75% of Wrights average but then I remembered reading somewhere that if you have an initial declaration of the team & a rider is injured before he races for his team, you are allowed a guest. If you re-declare in similar circumstances then you are not allowed a guest. This seems to have been applied at Wolves with Becker's injury & bringing in Nicholls as a guest then re-declaring, then finding out Nicholls would have missed a couple, hence going back to their original 7 & using guests.

Getting back on topic....

Personally, I think we'd of been stronger had we used R/R for Wright tonight.

Paco is slightly above average if he gates, but I can't remember him passing anybody in all his time with us.

I hope to see an improved Paco tonight!

I agree, especially with Sedgmen getting an r/r ride

I'm gonna have to change my mind, Birmingham were correct to use Paco as a guest. Just as well they didn't listen to us lol!

Well done Scorps, agree with Iron scorpion the weather could beat us on Friday, but forecast could change for the better.

It is that rain belt coming up from the South East so just need it to keep to South Lincolnshire.

Disappointing result

No lack of effort

Some good Racing especially Team Riding from Nick Morris with Bowtell

Scunny just had too much and deserved winners.

Shame we didn't keep Paco as Neilsen and Proctor dire. Pearson has improved a lot.

Entertaining night overall decent Crowd.

Hopefully all will be back and bring some friends.

Early days as yet but the proctor gamble looks like it’s failed   Can’t see him having a team place by the end of may.

Personally don't know how the Proctor signing can be called a "gamble" he's on a 4.00 average, no matter how bad he is, his average can't drop so can be replaced with another 4.00 rider - it's really a no-risk signing imo

The only question is, are there any better 4.00 riders out there?

Fully expect him to be replaced by Drew Kemp or Dan Thompson when Morris’ average drops.

I get it that the pre season optimism always gets people excited but I was told Nigel Tolley expected to win the League this season, I'm saying now their is not a cat in hell's chance of winning anything with the way this team has been built, It's between the Glads and Brummies who will win the wooden thingy.

It needs credibility though.Racing and Entertainment is important, but you need fans to watch it.

The League is just a set of Challenge Matches these days.Everybody riding for Everybody when it suits.

Precisely this - I’ve asked this many times but why is it the case nowadays that as soon as a rider is missing they are replaced with a guest? That never used to be the case and shouldn’t be now. It used to only be a guest for your no.1 and if you had two riders missing. The same applies to Luke Becker and Wolves with regards Scott Nicholls. All this borrowing riders from other teams makes the sport look an absolute joke.

Likewise Scunthorpe shouldn’t have a whole pick of guests for the reserve berth. They should be made to pick National League only riders or sign somebody. It has just become an absolute farce.

Been saying it for years.

it is no wonder fans stay away.

I genuinely think one big league is the way to go now - all this bollocks with riders riding for two clubs is just ridiculous. If it means one big league and 5 rider teams then so be it.

Decent meeting for the first one of the season....the crowd level looked poor from an outdoor perspective...not sure how many were inside though ?

So far as performance/s go....bit harsh to make judgments on riders that haven't rode for a while....

Yes, we're going to struggle to win many meetings, but I have to say that you couldn't fault commitment and effort....

Morris ....was brilliant....superb team riding....forceful when had to be and would've no doubt have been unbeatable had he been on Gate 4 in the races that he was beaten!

Bowtell.... needs to improve on speed...looked slow to me!

Paco... rode fantastically well (hands-up on my part) best I've seen him in a 'B' race jacket (using outside lines for the very first time...)

Nielsen... struggled, but we know that he can do better....'just a bit rusty' last night.

Sedgemen.... rode hard for his 7 points...got unlucky with the gate draw....Gate 4 was most favourable last night and he was in that gate only once (which he won from...)

Proctor....rode well in his first heat....got held up by Pearson in his second....and to be fair to him, he only rode in one heat all night, where he was up against an opposing reserve.

Pearson....got better as the night went on...seemed to get quicker and grow with confidence....certainly has the tools to become a future star!

To sum up Scunthorpe.... they were better than B'ham on the night, but I don't think they'll win anything!

Lambert rode really well for a paltry 5 points which could so easily have been more had he been off gate 4. (7 Heat winners from the first 8 races !) he just never gave up and was as entertaining as anybody....

MTP looked very fast...he seems to have a liking for PB!

Well done to Scunthorpe!

P.s track staff have done a brilliant job

One criticism from a managerial point of view....

We were 6 points behind prior to Heat 10.....why didn't we use a T/S for Bowtell who had only scored 1 point from 3 previous rides and looked the slowest rider out there?

Yes, people are going to say that Bowtell was left in and won the heat thanks to some fine team riding by Morris....but I'll tell you now, nobody with half a speedway brain could/would have predicted that!!!

The only think I've read was Tolley saying Birmingham were "guaranteed" to make the play-offs, which is a pretty big statement, even if they only have to finish 6th of 9 to do it. I know he has to have faith in his team, but while I didn't think Brummies were as bad as many did, I think he either over appreciates thier ability or hasn't looked at any other teams.
