chrismorton
The Tranny guy Gavan has way too much time on his hands speculating about whether they would have won if Pederson hadn't have stacked it 2nd bend....you did mate so why are u bothered!?..as for Panthers..I'm disappointed..the only positives were Basso and Hans..and I have this niggling worry that based on the 2 trips he's made here this season and done half a lap Nicki might think sod this and sack it off...disastrous start.. decent racing but came home annoyed.

Nicki is a professional. I really can't see him pulling out a commitment. Reading Polish media, Nicki is fine and just has a sore back. He will be back to his very best. Ipswich got a very lucky break tonight. Nicki was beating Bartosz and Artem last night, he would have had no problem with Doyle and the lesser Russian. Two third places wasn’t it? As ever, form elsewhere is a poor indicator of form here anyway, Pedersen left for dust in heat 1 before coming a cropper. Bit bizarre to state that based on nationality! Fact is Rew had never seen Peterborough before, all tracks are different and prepared different and yet he scored the same number of points as a seasoned GB rider (Worrall) who has ridden the Showground countless times. After taking a few rides naturally to find the best way around, he wins an important heat for his team beating Basso from the back no less. That was impressive. It is based on tracks bring similar size in Aus. It is also why Danes are good at Poole, similar size and shape. Also Americans being good at Eastbourne as they are used to small tracks. There is nothing wrong with it, I would expect Rew's best away scores to be at Peterborough and Sheffield.

It’s never easy to win away from home regardless of the circumstances and I get you’re disappointed.Your lot were there practicing today so the advantages are obvious. Rew has never seen the place but after taking a few rides to size the place up, beats Basso from the back. Lots of positives to take there from an Ipswich perspective. In fairness basso made a mistake and pretty much waved Rew through. Nothing against the lad but that wasnt a genuine overtake due to being quicker…..
Col
While Sayfutdinov will undoubtedly recieve & has earned the plaudits, the Witch who impressed me most tonight was Rew. Looked far from the pace in his first ride, in his third ride he put Iversen under enough pressure to ensure King got the win, after repassing Cook and in his final ride passed Basso for the win. Had only seen Rew once before at the SG2 in Torun and he didn't impress. No one will ever know what the result would have been had Pedersen not got injured but he was third behind Doyle & Riss after the quarter lap he did complete. Thoroughly enjoyable night of racing, which except for the first processional two heats and the two heats when Doyle teamed with Sayfutdinov all seemed to have close action. Lenny Lion
Sounds like it was an action packed meeting tonight. How did young Joe Thompson ride for Ipswich. I will be honest it’s 2 points more then I thought he would score.
bruno
Thoroughly enjoyed that tonight we'll worth the journey. Racing was pretty decent with a couple of crackers. So as usual no gripe about the racing but as usual the running of it. If Phil Morris was there then the main thing is to get meetings started on time, get clocks for the 2 minutes like in Poland to stop the gardening, if riders arnt ready there out. Poor there was a hole on first bend but who knows maybe unavoidable. Not sure if it caused Nicki's crash. If meetings started on time and ran smoothly then no one would mind an interval. Annoying that most things speedway gets wrong could easily be put right
Baldyman
Ive seen a lot of people saying good racing,,, I thought it was very average at best,,, gates 2 and 4 were clearly way better than 1 and 3. Used to be a fantastic track any time of season,, but I thought was pants tonight,,,, all the racing was done on a 3 metre wide track. Glad my team one,,, but personally I think it was nearly all down to who had what gates Edited March 27, 2023 by Baldyman

Ahead of Hume in heat 2 and I think he passed Jenkins later, probably heat 8. Jenkins went from 1-4 in that heat.

Why? If the track dimensions change, that can only hurt the home team! Granted they've not got much home track advantage this early in the season. Even if Ipswich were unhappy, what's the alternative, race on a track that's more dangerous due to a spongy inside line or cancelling it with thousands in the stands?
Noodles
Obviously the result is disappointing. What I found most disappointing though is that they've had all winter to fix some of the off track issues. There were problems with the lfloodlghts on home straight last season and there are still umpteen bulbs missing from the pilons. It is quite dark in the area Nicki crashed and several riders struggled to miss the soft patch. Also the sound from the tannoy was just awful, it kept breaking up, then ridiculously loud then gave up all together. Along with the delays, it wasn't a good look for opening night in front of a very big crowd.

It took Emil two laps to get past Jenkins in his first ride and he went on to have a decent night.

They’ve already lost a home meeting and I honestly can’t see this side winning anywhere on the road. This team isn’t top 4 material. If Pedersen doesn’t return I’d already look in to tinkering with the make up of the side and make more than one change.
klstarsfan
I was on the first/second bend, the track was not soft and no hole! It was super grippy. Dont think Nicki was expecting quite as much grip, sat back on the bike to fire out of the corner, lifted then got out of control and into the fence. klstarsfan
Some good racing last night, Emil a class above the rest. Basso looking good but prone to making the odd mistake. good return from Hans which sort of went under the radar for me.
