...ah that rules me out then!

Since you brought it up are you sureĀ Steve ?

ā€I haveļ»æĀ to say that moving away from Oxford some 17 plus years ago I haven't been to a speedway since as the nearest, I guess, would be Sheffield (?). I would expect more than just 15 heats (?) for my money and when i would have to take into account petrol costs (especially nowadays) it just doesn't add up for meļ»æļ»æļ»æļ»æļ»æ.ļ»æļ»æļ»æļ»æā€œ posted inĀ 2022.

Maths Ā ainā€™t my strong point( or yours apparently)Ā but 2022-17years =2005

...well if you wish to be pedantic I did quote "17 plus years ago". Last meeting I went to was the very first meeting at Cowley in 2004 (Lakeside).

Who supplies your facts.( in your head no doubt).Rock on.

Clearly someone like you believes at face value what you read where as I said Ā I prefer the facts.

You got one who said on another topic:
Ā ā€I haveļ»æĀ to say that moving away from Oxford some 17 plus years ago I haven't been to a speedway sinceā€Ā  commenting on this very topic but could not recall it.
Another flip flop who was prepared to castigate me for buying tickets in advance and dare to suggest that Ā£1.00 increase is not a Ā£1.00 but had obviously forgotten Ā his previous Ā posts on another topic:
ā€œĀ If the new Ā£20 ticket price does include the booking fee, it's only a Ā£1 increase over last season (Ā£18+Ā£1) - that's not too bad considering the current circumstances.ā€andā€Ā I normally buy mine as soon as they go on saleā€so in advance then!
I would question if you are not also one of those above Ā who actually attends speedway now certainly not at Oxford Ā if anywhere because to be moaning about a quid is pathetic especially when there was no speedway at Cowley Ā for 14 years and without a huge effort from various people, some who post on here there still wouldn't

I'd just ignore him, or better off block him altogether like I have Steve. Life is better when you don't have to listen to somebody who would argue with his own shadow.

I, for one, have always enjoyed your posts. I'd rather talk about the fact that it's a shame you're so far away and can't attend the meetings anymore, instead of you having to justify why you haven't (which makes no difference to anything).

No you accused me of false claims and I provide you with facts thatā€™s all but of course you close ranks with your fan club

who can say what they like whether true or false

So I am allowed to defend those claims just as you would have

Anyway I am sure when this meeting is rerun itā€™s going to be a sellout and very enjoyable for both sets of fans, whether Oxford or Swindon.
Ā

Itā€™s a travesty that Swindon are not currently running and have the fan base to easily be run at a profit. The MP for Swindon Tomlinson was next to useless and offered no more than thoughts and prayers. Swindon Council should step up to the plate and allocate a slice of land. What the point of living in a conurbation with 200,000 others if all they have is restaurant Ā chains, a few multiplexes and STFC (who I support). The citizens of Swindon deserve a speedway team.

...I would add Reading to that. A poor loss to the sport and again clouded in "rumours" and "stories" regarding promises of another site but, as yet, has come to nought!

Most of you arguing amongst yourselves are!Ā
The thread was for the challenge match most come to read thoughts or opinions of the line up/events during the meeting etc. think thereā€™s actually 1/2 pages on topic the other 10Ā just the same old debate over tickets.Ā Ā Everyone is entitled to there opinion and there is neither a right or wrong opinion! Either start yourself a separate thread so you can debate it until the end of time or except that otherā€™s opinions may differ from yours because coming on here each time moaning about it isnā€™t gonna change a thing.Ā

To be fair, I don't think Tomlinson did much wrong. He always insisted that houses could not be built until the Stadium was completed, and it now seems to be being completed.

The reason Swindon closed down was down to Osbourne and Russell. If Terry Russell decided to shut the club down, there's nothing that the local MP can do about that.

I guess that what will now happen is the stadium will be completed, the houses will then get built, and then Osbourne will eventually sell of the newly completed stadium and it will get demolished.Ā I'm sure the work that is going on there now is purely a legal requirement to allow the remaining houses to be built. If so, Tomlinson was true to his word.
