The press release from Warriors Shale Track Club says that the Plymouth promotion have told them that they cannot hire the stadium due to pressure from SCB. I will alter my original post to SCB instead of BSPL who I still suspect are behind this.

Doesn’t add up though, does it? They , the SCB , are happy that other tracks run both so why not Plymouth ? The SCB or BSPL cannot stop a stadium owner hiring their stadium to whoever they please

Does the Plymouth promotion own the stadium? If that is the reason SCB/BSPL have been able to stop NORA92 league racing then the Plymouth promotion need to sell to a company set up to run the stadium which they can totally control while still saying it is not them who are hiring the stadium out!

No idea, most clubs don’t own the stadiums they run in.

Wouldn’t know, just others making 2+2 = 7.

You are good at algebra, is it right? How did you come to that conclusion and what does it mean?

Can only go off whats been put into press rather than hearsays etc but its certainly bold and clear that IOW find the SCB responsible for the prevention of Nora action at Plymouth.....i also see there has been a rebrand to remove the association to Speedway.

Cannot believe that you couldnt use "Speedway" in the title..

Its not like the UK has a tradenark for the word is it?

Many countries use the term, including the USA for even other forms of motorsport, and the actual tracks themselves..

Worst case scenario, call it "Motor Speedway" and say you are calling it that to differentiate it from "Cycle Speedway" in the eyes of the public..

Perhaps its an IOW choice to try and differentiate from Speedway as much as they can as despite their best efforts to boost the sport in the UK (would love to know the number of first timers who visit IOW, have a great time and then spend money at a more local track) they continue to face difficulties from senior parties within the sport, all who would cry to the press in a second if a single person made their business operation difficult.

I read all of this, then this week in the speedway star a half page feature on the British amateur league, all being run at scunthorpe.  It's using several NDL riders plus some unattached riders. Made up and ghost teams, Not that different to IOW,  but hey, who runs scunthorpe?

What ghost teams are taking part? Considering Reading, MK, Weymouth and Carmarthen  were all told they couldnt use those names in the Development Leagues any more, this would be the biggest piss take of all.

And who puts these teams together and runs the event, any idea? I suppose if its RG or on his behalf, they will say the difference is that they are being run by a recognised promotion.

It's a Richard Hollingsworth organised event he puts scunthorpe team together to run alongside other classes in amateur meetings. Think Lee and kean dicken organised the hull team the amsa team is done by their organisation and I think Sam woods does Boston. This event is open to anyone who wants to put a team together just contact Richard. The main difference here is all riders pay to enter and no payments are made to riders and fans don't pay to watch, so it's different from the IOW events and the Mdsl where fans pay and or riders are paid. If you would like to enter a team contact Richard I'm sure he would be happy to include more teams.

Thanks for the info, but I would dispute that MSDL riders were being paid. We helped them towards expenses, nobody made money out of it. However if the riders are actually paying to enter, and there are other classes apart from the team event, then that is a difference. Sticks in the craw a bit though that we were told we couldnt use the words Reading or Racers, even for a 6 heat  challenge  cos we werent making sufficient effort to find a new home. Are Boston and Hull trying?

No idea if Boston and Hull are trying this is a totally amateur event so wouldn't see why they would have to be. Think if you enter a team in an amateur meeting you can call them what you want . Covering expenses is payment which ever way you look at it. I would suggest if you want to run your Racers team contact Richard I'm sure he could help.

Bottom line is we were told that to run in MSDL we had to prove we were actively looking for a new home (we were, and sent emails to prove it). This was regardless of whether we were giving any money to the riders or not, so that is clearly not the difference. And no, I'm not asking these questions because we want to enter a team - the BSPL have severely dented our enthusiasm - I'm asking to see if there is indeed a difference between how we were treated and how others are being treated. I'd say it's a fair question.
