This is hilarious.  You expect the paranoia from the other end of the M8 , but the affliction goes much further than there .

Speedway fan - wish the league had a sponsor

Speedway God- it has now

Speedway Fan - yeah but its a Glasgow promoters company , surely that's a conflict of interests

Speedway God - how ?

Speedway fan - i dont know it just is . Thats them trying to buy the league again

Speedway God - how ?

Speedway fan - ( getting more worked up ) I dont know it just is . It seems well dodgy though .

Speedway God - in what way ?

Speedway fan ( reaching for the valium) i dont know it just is .

So there you have it , the league and the sport badly needs sponsors , but only.if it's the right kind of sponsor . If Vladimir Putin owned Cab Taxis , nobody on here would bat an eyelid . But anything to do with splash the cash Glasgow and its , " oh no no no we cant have that "

Well,,, if its got owt to do with taxi drivers and money, it's gotta be well dodgy!!!

Ffs the facennas throw more money at British speedway and the first responses are the usual negative bs. Must wonder why they bother. This is a conflict of interest but Godfrey and ford on the manage committee that's no issue. Couldn't make it up

Oh hell no, leave us out of this BS!

People making a joke of it, and making light of it, but sadly it is speedway shooting itself in the foot again.

Imagine the BSPL have to make a big decision involving two teams...     One of which has given them a big wad of money, and one of them which hasn't.   If the BSPL management committee rule in favour of the team handing out the cash, how is that going to look?

It's not even that the BSPL have to be biased, it's just that there has to be the perception that they could be biased.   Whchever way you look at it the BSPL ar now conflicted by this.   It wouldn't happen in a professionally organised sport.

And yes, there are plenty of other conflicts and matters of self-interest in the sport.   But ask yourself, is adding another one making things better or worse?

Hardly shooting itself in the foot. Sponsers are not queuing round the block to invest in the Sport. The sport is already  a closed shop.Conflict of interest even if there was one in this case is the least of their worries .

Any money going into the sport is more than welcome.

How many times have many of us have said that we need sponsorship for the Leagues.

As for conflict of interests is there not other conflicts of interest.

Sheffield (My club) and Leicester having the same owners.

Kings Lynn and Peterborough having the same owners.

Sheffield and Ipswich both sponsored by Guy Nicholls companies.

For me it is good news.

I haven't read the 2 previous pages but I'd be cautious about slagging the Facennas here, they're not that foolish to think they would hide behind a dormant company and kid the sport on. This is about selling it to the wider media and public at large which in fairness is what the BSPL should be doing.

It could have been better worded for me such as .... "CabDirect part of the Allied Vehicle Group"... "who also sponsor Team GB and Glasgow Tigers".

The issue isn't the Facennas or their businesses it's yet again about transparency from the BSPL, there's no conflict of interest yet but the potential is huge.

Will the deal just be for one season if Glasgow don't win the Championship? Asking for a friend.........

And along comes the professional sniper :D

You would imagine not as the people who run Glasgow speedway seem to care about British Speedway as a whole and not just their own club.
