Think he can come back in after the Leicester match at home.

Would he not come back to Edinburgh on the average they released him on?

Was told a few years ago by someone that if the rider was dropped another team could sign him on his new average but the team releasing him had to sign him on the average he was replaced on (unless his average had went up).

Mickie Simpson could probably pick up lots of guest bookings now he's on a 3.00 average, far more racing than if he signs for a team. Although if his average then rises above 3.00, he'd just need to find a team sharpish so he doesn't get frozen out (like Jody Scott did signing for Oxford last year).

Guest bookings don't count towards his average, so it would (while guesting) remain the same.

010.2 MATCH AVERAGES (MA’s)

"A NDL rider, who is not in a NDL, ‘League’ Team Declaration will be given an Established MA after completing 4 meetings, irrespective of being home or away in any official team competition"

Think you can name AR at any point this season not just if running RR and they can take any rides so in theory could take a ride each for Lyden, Wood and Parker.....you would fancy Simpsons chances to get a decent return in heats 2,8 & 14.

Don’t be silly , that would mean you’re having an eight rider team ! You can only declare an A.R. IF R/R is being used and even then you don’t have too, although silly if you don’t.

Apologies got that bit wrong. However one of Wood or Lyden will need to go up into the 1-5 and if Lyden happens to still be suffering from his work place injury the Simpson could be named as AR. He could then take 3 RR rides and Spooner the other, plus could take a ride each from Wood and Parker. Whilst Simpson might not be a world beater that situation certainly looks like it would generate more points than the current declared 1-7.

Jody Scott had to sign for Oxford before he got an average & Ashton Boughen started above 4.00 for Leicester after his guest appreances last year.

The ruling posted by S4S doesn't state what happens after they've ridden 4 meetings though?

and wrong again….you can’t name an A.R. with an average above 3 or/ and is named in any teams declared 1-7. So until Simpson’s average is below 3 he can’t be anybody’s A.R.

But he comes out of the team on 4.46 today, and then drops to 3.00 tomorrow.   So he can be an AR for anyone.

I know that, but the ruling doesn't state what happens if you've already ridden 4 matches? Does every match he races as a "guest" continue to update his average?

So Parker sent packing after a single meeting and Simpson returns on a 3.00 with Clegg slotted into the side. Don't know who voted to introduce the 14 days return rule (rather than the previous not that season) but its been used to clever but farcical effect and just belittles the sport even more. With this, the insistence include Commonwealth riders and still tracking poor sides i have to question if Edinburgh's NL side has done  more harm than good since its inclusion.

Wrote it all before i went out :D. Fact is Edinburgh removed Simpson and Bickley from the team and added Clegg and Parker, the next day Simpson dropped to a 3.00 average and 14 days later hes reintroduced missing just 1 match (and in fact became free to take several guest booking in that time).

The rule used to be that if you were taken out of a teams 1-7 you could not be redeclared into that 1-7 in the same season (bar 28 day injury cover) now riders can be reintroduced after just 14 days which makes average manipulation potentially rife.

Several lads who wouldn’t have a team spot have one so can’t be that harmful.
