Gives a good clear pathway for the younger generation from the academy to the NJL to the NDL and then onto the monarchs. shame about josh not being able to commit due to work hopefully see him back sooner rather than later. https://www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk/news-centre/article/2023-01-17/edinburgh-monarchs-academy-enter-national-development-league?fbclid=IwAR2qgEW8UbmfCSytI488SulkxOIM_c6_1tmOs6Vw4kJJI0-H4QiFqVJBmtE I had to laugh at this comment though: "By retiring the Armadale Devils moniker, young riders can now fully focus on their development in the sport with the Monarchs. We hope they will dream of reaching the Monarchs Academy team and then graduating into a fully-fledged Monarch thereafter." Are they suggesting young riders weren't fully focussed on their development because the team was called Armadale instead of Edinburgh?

Forgive me for asking what might seem like a frivolous question. But will this team ride as the Academics?

Yes, as an academy they can focus more on their speedway education. And the club can link themselves into the local schools and maybe apply for a sports grant or something along those lines. Mr Blobby
Think the whole point of moving away from the devils and to the monarchs academy is so it all links with the first team being the Edinburgh monarchs. Bit like a football system where you have the academies who will then move up to the development sides and then eventually the first team. Similar here with the new system the club have put in place where we have the academy the now monarchs academy NDL level and then the Edinburgh monarchs. Nice stepping stones for the kids to look and aim for.

All very commendable and good in practice, just like Berwick had in place last year, but it hasn't stopped them losing Ace Pijper and Luke Harrison from that system

Association with Monarchs is a good move, but Speedway at NDL level nowadays is not cheap,it’s a “ Buxton” scenario happening again where clubs are” buying “success over developing young riders. If Bickley and Hook ride for Edinburgh they won’t be cheap either. It was a shame he packed in but he’d fallen out of love with it before so no great surprise. Muff might not like a Friday night track due to work, Rathbone appears to have zero confidence but can be be good Douglas is a steady three pointer. Nothing else northern based out there so grab a ‘ commonwealth ‘ rider and two low pointers , if you can find them.
