He wouldn't  hold is own with the current  crop of GP riders ....They dont give an inch in those GPs..

Do you actually read the thread before you respond? Second message you've totally missed the point. Nobody said he was GP level, it was mentioned he wasn't in the GP qualifiers. Big, big difference in quality between that and the GP itself. I'm saying he's good enough to be in the qualifiers, not the GP (which he isn't). Sigh.

Kurtz, C.Holder, Tungate are levels above Masters.

4th on the list isn't worthy when Doyle, Fricke & J.Holder are already GP rider's.

Think about it this way, like (potentially) Ipswich has Doyle & Sayfutdinov, Belle Vue Bewley & Kurtz, Peterborough C.Holder & Pedersen, for example, where would Masters be if Lindgren & Woffinden were available to Wolves??

The answer would prove Masters ISN'T a genuine No1, even at Premiership level.

Secondly, there wouldn't be many takers for Masters on his average at any other Premiership club

Good grief, this response is based on more hearsay than Myleene Klass!

If he was an out and out number 1....he'd  make the GPs....

Anyone calling Masters a genuine No1 has clearly had to much drink over the holidays.

A genuine No1 doesn't also ride Championship speedway, they'd be in the top leagues on the continent.

Masters is boosted by his home track.

Away averages including BP's in 22;

Doyle 9.87

Musielak 8.42

Kurtz 8.19

Fricke 8.10

Masters 8.09

From that list only Doyle & Fricke can be considered genuine No1's. Fast forward to 23 & (predicted) incomers of C.Holder, Iversen, Pedersen, Sayfutdinov, Masters should slip down the order.

His only saving grace will be his home track & no rider's within his own team to challenge the No1 jersey.

Whereas, Belle Vue, Sheffield, Peterborough, Ipswich (with predicted incomings) have genuine challenges from within their own team to be the No1.

Holder Iversen Pedersen are over the hill and all easily beatable.

Strange you should point out his away average of 8.09 (that’s not too shabby by the way) he finished the season with an average of 8.00 overall which would suggest his home form is comparable surely. Add to that he was carrying an injury for a couple of months I don’t think there’s much to complain about really. Sam is massively under-rated in my opinion, last season was his best by a long way, and I for one am quite happy to have him as our no 1

But there's  better...compared to J.Doyle....A genuine number 1....wouldn't  see him in the championship....To be the best u need to race against  them ....

Wouldn't  swop him for Doyle tho ...especially  heats 13 and 15 ...

Personally I wouldn’t swap Sam for Doyle, I think it’s near impossible to build a title winning team with one rider on such a high average. Strength in depth is key, hopefully we have that next year.

Do you understand what a number 1 is? Means you need to be one of the best (seven last year, now eight) riders in the league. If the league is weak, you don’t need to be in the GPs to be a number 1. It’s a simple maths equation!

Agreed there’s better but tell me how you would build a title winning team with 1 rider taking 25% of the available amount. Freddy, Jacob and Tai don’t do Uk anymore, tell me someone else who would ride Monmore as well as Sam?
