Oxford Chargers 2023

Anybody got any thoughts on the potential Oxford Chargers team for 2023? Presuming Atkins and Killeen are certainties, and don't see why Jenkins won't be back. Could look pretty similar to last year (which is no bad thing), and presume Oxford will be the Boughen brothers first choice if Mildenhall don't run.

1. Jordan Jenkins
2. Jody Scott
3. Henry Atkins
4. Luke Killeen
5. Nathan Stoneman
6. Kiean Boughen
7. Ashton Boughen

Think that team fits the 42pt limit. Thoughts?

Jenkins may not ride in the NDL if he gets a Premiership place combined with Poland and Kiean Boughen is no where near NDL standard yet.

It's above the points limit, personally I think Jenkins won't race NL next year if he gets an "rs" spot in the Prem

Oxford
Jordan Jenkins 9.47
Nathan Stoneman 8.67
Henry Atkins 7.24
Jody Scott 5.88
Ashton Boughen 4.95
Kielan Boughen 3.00
Luke Killeen 3.00
Total 42.21

Shows you how daft speedway rules are when Ashton Boughen gets lumbered with a 4:95 Average after just a month of league racing and Killeen is still on a 3

Boughen could have decided not to race a 4th meeting & stay on a 3.00 (like Luke Harrison did).

Personally I think the 4 meeting rule is a little daft for unattached riders. BSPL are obviously putting having a "fairer" league ahead of rider development.

There will always be promising riders on a 3.00 once they hit 15, but under current rules riding less (bad for development) ensures they get a team spot the following year

Definitely daft. Either green on the rules or team place already secured for 2023 regardless of average.

Arguments for both sides rider development on one side vs meetings being affected on the other. Jody Scott signed for Oxford on  3.00 and the day after saw his averge double (genius signing).

If Jenkins isn't going to be doing the NDL, what about trying to tempt Dan Gilkes with Plymouth not racing? He might want the meetings coming back from injury as he is, and he was very impressive when racing at Sandy Lane last year...

Dan Gilkes - 10.30
Henry Atkins - 7.24
Sam Hagon - 6.18
Jody Scott - 5.88
Ashton Boughen - 4.95
Arran Butcher - 4.36
Luke Killeen - 3.00
Total - 41.91

or if you wanted to go a little more top heavy....

Dan Gilkes - 10.30
Nathan Stoneman - 8.67
Henry Atkins - 7.24
Ashton Boughen - 4.95
Arran Butcher - 4.36
Luke Killeen - 3.00
Kiean Boughen - 3.00 (or any other 3pter)
Total - 41.52

Don't think Gilkes is allowed to ride in all 3 leagues.   Same applies to Jenkins.

Can only imagine Boughen at Leicester.

Why can't he ride in all three leagues? Jenkins did last year didn't he (Peterborough, Redcar and Oxford). Has there been a rule change?

And I naturally thought Boughen would stick with Peter Schroeck, no? What's his link to Leicester?

That rule was dropped, but even coming back from injury gilkes is 2 good for nl wouldn't benefit from riding in it

No.  He didn't.    Jordan Palin was Peterborough's No.7  last year.

It was possible to ride in NDL, Championship, and be on the rising stars list as a No.8. which is what Jenkins did.

This year there are no No.8s and Jenkins will be Peterborough's No.7 rising star

Pretty sure Jenkins was Peterborough's No.7 last year after Palin's injury, with Jake Mulford the No.8.

No.  Jenkins came into Peterborough as their No.8 when their existing No.8 Dan Gilkes was injured.

Obviously when Palin was injured Jenkins took over his place in the team, which was the whole point of having a No.8

So Peterborough had two No.8s with Jake Mulford?

Correct on both counts

From Issue 13 of the 2022 Green Sheets Jenkins was listed at No 7, Mulford at No 8.

Keep up!

Mulford came in as the new No.8 when existing No.8 Jenkins stepped up to replace the injured Palin.

Exactly. So Jenkins went to No.7 in the team.....while also riding for Redcar and Oxford. Three teams, and the same time, while not a No.8 for Peterborough. Sigh. I was trying to prove a point, but it has appeared to go over your head.
