Would the rider still get a point if he was injured in a incident for which he was deemed at fault and was excluded? Technically he hadn't raced that evening, , would he also get the point if he got injured in the practise session?

If a rider has been excluded from a heat then technically they have raced.

As far as I'm aware, no points are awarded for 17th or 18th place, so presumably an rider withdrawing before the heats would be replaced by a reserve who likely finish in the top 16 and be awarded points accordingly. Similarly, riders getting injured during the Heats 1-20 would be awarded points according to where they were classified.

FIM "WAITING-TO-HAPPEN" DANISH SPEEDWAY GRAND PRIX

SKANSEN, OUTRUP 24th DECEMBER 2002

#1 Greg Hancock US 3333Fn 12

#16 Jason Crump AU 33203 11

#5 Mark Lemon AU 32222 11

#2 Tony Rickardsson SE 2332d 10

#15 Leigh Adams AU 23103 9

#3 Bo Brhel CZ 1133d 8

#8 Jack Holder AU 2123Fn 8

#10 Mark Loram GB 2131d 7

#9 Joonas Kylmäkorpi SE 3111Fn 6

#12 Ales Dryml CZ 02022 6

#7 Andy Smith GB 10212 6

#11 Chris Harris GB 12111 6

#14 Adrian Miedzinski PL 10003 4

#4 Wieslaw Jagus PL 00130 4

Martin Smolinski DE 0202Fn 4

Kaj Laukkanen FI 00003 3

Heat details from speedway-updates… Heavy watering during the last interval, why? No-one has a clue…

Heat 17: Adams, Hancock Fn, Holder Fn, Loram d 67,98

Comments: Adams gates and takes the lead. On the back straight Loram finds incredible speed, passes bot Holder and Hancock on the inside only to clip Hancocks front wheel out mid turn. Holder has no where to go, flies over the fence and is knocked out. Hancock breaks a collarbone, both out of the meeting. Adams wins the rerun on his own with Loram excluded.

Heat 18: Crump, Smith, Kylmäkorpi Fn, Rickardsson d 68,56

Comments: Crump flies away with it, Rickardsson left at the back. Third lap back straight Rickardsson slams Smith in to the fence leaving Kylmäkorpi clueless what to do. He hits the bike of the fallen Smith and breaks a finger. Out of the meeting with Rickardsson excluded as the cause of the stoppage. Easy win for Crump by almost a lap from the resun.

Heat 19: Laukkanen, Dryml, Smolinski Fn, Brhel d 69,76

Comments: 1st bend bunching of the highest order as Brhel has nowhere else to go but through Smolinski. For no obvious reason Gardell disqualifies Brhel with Smolinski badly concussed and out of the meeting. Plain sailing for Laukkanen in the rerun.

Heat 20: Miedzinski, Lemon, Harris, Jagus 72,32

Comments: FTG, what a relief after the previous three…

Semi 1: Hancock N, Rickardsson N, Brhel N, Holder N no time

Comments: All riders out injured, heat not ridden.

Semi 2: Adams, Lemon, Crump, Loram N 67,32

Comments: Three riders only, FTG

Final: Lemon, Adams R 65,54

Comments: WTF, what a downer with Adams retiring with a puncture on lap 2.

EDIT: I forgot to give rides to the reserves, but they were useless

Thanks for the reply.  I should have added the rider scored 6pts - 2 race wins, but only competed in two of his qualifying heats. where as the other rider scored six points from all his programmed rides.

Thanks.

3 3 beats 3 2 1 0 0

But I think

3 0 0 3 0 will beat 3 3

There should also be a clause stating if you dont ride in the semis, your ninth, or tenth or even eleventh if theres a big pileup in heat 20.

The problem with that is a rider could be knocked off & injured in his last ride (finishes 8th) and the guy who knocked him off (finishing 9th) gets his semi-final spot!

I think that was exactly my main point and should never happen. If your 9th, your night is over no matter how many above you are out of the meeting.
