Lakeside 2022

With the track still in place , wonder whether we might see Lakeside return to th Premier League in 2023. Lots of speculation from other  defunct clubs returning to the Premier League.

 We could have

Lawson Ellis and 

Morley 

for starters — 

I am sure all the old track equipment will still be in the rusting portakabin next to a pile of old shale at the back of the riders car park.

Well it hasnt happened ........we still have defunct tracks on here (and some that have declared will not be in the Prem 2023 so if you can't beat 'em join 'em I say.

Admin really needs to get a grip on this forurm.

No chance! They might however put a track in at the London stadium to allow the mighty Hackney to return.

Maybe if they paid the thousands of pounds  owed to the ex riders they might talk …. But this is speedway so that won’t happen.

If Lakeside were to come back, it would be an entirely different company which has no responsibility whatsoever for the debts of the previous company which ran Lakeside. That’s how company law works in UK. In other words, the scenario is not a speedway issue but one that sadly many UK workers have faced and will face. UK workers see firms taken over without the new owner taking over pension funds. They are shafted just as riders have been. Laws need to change.

Of course it’s a speedway issue. Clubs are forever going tïts up and it’s always the riders that get screwed over. Until the powers that be sort out some proper rules, a major league sponsor ( been promised that for years but it’s strangely never materialised) and produce and stick to a long term plan,  it’s  always going to be looked upon as a micky mouse sport.

It is not solely a speedway issue. There are thousands of examples of businesses closing every year and those that run them walking away from their debts and responsibilities.

Well London Stadium is only used as a "Rice Field" these days! And 'Ackney gave us "Make It A Date, Friday at Eight" & was it "3.2 Overtakings A Race!

If its within 45 miles of Swindon then Terry & Clark could "Go for it!'

Has anyone seen any sign of redevelopment at the Lakeside bowl ?

Nothing happening there, just gathering weeds, it’s not just a crying shame, it’s criminal but whilst the place still stands, there is hope.

All it would take is some good will and some hard working volunteers to have that track back into race state, the main problem would be it would likely needs a new fence and not just on the corners.

If it could be done at Oxford, no reason why it cannot be repeated at Arena.

Was a small piece in the Non League Paper yesterday which said that Hashtag Utd FC have earmarked two possible locations for a permanent home, one of which is the former Arena Essex Raceway.

The MP for Thurrock asked a question about the Arena at PMQs this week. She wanted to know if the PM could help the local authority build 2500 new houses on the site. Apparently there is an issue with Highways Agency objections around the impact on the M25 junction. She stated that the development is ready to go.
