With only 8 Wednesdays that don't clash with Denmark and 5 non-Wednesday clubs who either have already declared Danes or had Danes last season, I have no idea how anyone believed two home and away was a goer.

Maybe, but then make it 12 home and 12 away whereby you face four teams twice and the other four, once. This regional cup, basically exactly the same as we had this season just at a different point in the season is crap and meaningless. Why not just make those fixtures extra league matches?

Ask the Promoter at Buxton I’m sure she could tell what they were doing wrong.A Club run in the manor the why the league was formed, until winning meant everything to some Clubs and started paying money some could not afford.Ironically most hav3 folded

But the ndl is still needed and get back to what it should be definitely not scrapped for pointtless second half races.

I do agree that the NDL is needed, but is it financially viable at some Clubs.I don’t know ,but some of the attendances have been poor in matches I have seen.Don’t know the pay rates though or the sponsorship.

Which frankly dilutes the playoffs further. The playoffs should be tough to get to and a big thing if you get there. This season if you avoid the bottom 3rd of the league you qualify!

Not a fan of the play-offs but if they had to keep them, should have just made it top 4 qualify! How can a team "celebrate" qualifying for the play-offs by finishing 6th out of 9?

Might have missed it but has anything been agreed about guest riders ,Kennett saga last season is it going to be the same should someone unfortunately get injured and be out for a long spell.

Nothing so far announced but may be a SCB decision rather than BSPL?

Seems like they haven't learnt anything from the Plymouth / Birmingham / Newcastle injury issues, so I assume if a rider gets injured in the first match you can get a guest for the season?

Not enough meetings. 11/12 is not enough meetings. Means many weeks with nothing going on. Should have been two home and away. Scrap group comp. Dear oh dear very poor call.

Maybe they thought attendances would drop as people might not be able to afford more meetings, especially with extra financial pressures from April 2023?

It's the age old question re Speedway

If you support a Football Team (as many Speedway fans do), a Rugby Team (either Code as many do), or any other type of Sports Team, the habit is ALTERNATING Fixtures / Weeks

Supporters tune to it and plan around it. Very few drift away because they can't go every week.

Speedway though has always been different.

Some of the Promoters of the past, and they were PROMOTERS in the actual sense that they could promote, did base everything on the weekly continuity.

However, times have changed, attitudes have changes, alternative options have massively increased.

The Clubs no longer want more Meeting to make more profit, rather, less means losing LESS and possibly optimise support by getting more through the gates.

There will be many who can't afford to go every week but who may be able to afford to go every fortnight.

If people can't adapt to that I personally think that their mentality towards Speedway is the issue and not the Promoters or Clubs. The issue there is that the age dymanic of the Sport is old, declining and very much stuck in their ways.

As anyone who has been to some tracks as an Away supporter and dared sit or stand in a spot that is unmarked and not reserved, yet someone who has been there for 30,40,50 years then comes along and offers a mouthful of abuse, will testify! -ahem!

Although there is also a danger of fans getting out of the habit of going to speedway. Time will tell.

Thats been the age-old problem where people get something else to do on a race night, or their children do more likely, obviously there are others who become tired with speedway and the ever-changing rules, and who can blame them. I don't believe that the powers that be have it in them to re-invent a sport that can attract new supporters, let's face they have a fight on just to keep the fans they have at the minute.

Should have moved up to the PL, after all you did "win" the league title :D

There were so many Teams in the League in these days you are talking about they had to run Weekly Fixtures, that’s the difference.

less meetings less riders .lower grade riders  will disappear not looking good for next season ?

One less home league meeting due to one less club. Same ko Cup and mini league fixtures. Plus a couple of challenges maybe? It's still possible to have a fortnightly habit especially those Wednesday tracks who will be away on some Wednesdays.

How many years have fans been saying that.

Quite right...apologies for the repeat...it's just that I cant find anything positive to say about the new plans etc....

Super Heat is a crap idea IMO....it's not a football match, where sometimes/tactically teams attempt to play for a draw ? (I could be wrong...I suppose)

A draw is a draw....sometimes it sends both sets of fans home happy ?
