Yea agree it's a bit out of the way, but so is Redcar they have a good track good racing and the crowds are on the increase, IMO if the product is good (good track/racing) the crowds will follow .  hope the weather improves so the guys can continue the good work, and maybe get some training schools in to test the track and bring some income into the club    UTC

Many moons ago can recall that Hackney Hawks used to have a shuttle bus service from near the tube station to the ground.  Used that two or three times as I recall.  About 30 mins before start time I think. Either free or nominal charge cannot be certain too far back.  Maybe something like that would work for Comets i.e. pickup point somewhere very central for those who are not able/don't wish to walk a distance.  Return immediately after match.  Not familiar with the area or cost implications for the club but it's maybe one for the suggestion box ?

I travelled on the free bus from Leyton station to the Hawks meetings on many occasions. At one time they had buses to a number of different places and used some almost vintage buses on the services which even to a railway enthusiast were quite interesting. A lot of people used the buses but sadly they stopped running them and left people to walk which I know caused some less able supporters to stop going.

I can vividly recall taking a normal service bus from central London to Hackney speedway stadium....(or as close as it got to stadium).....it was a nightmare(ish) journey of what felt like about 2 hours...all I could think during the awful trek was "Friday at eight, don't be late".....we got there just as Heat One was at gate - having set off at 6ish.....I would have been more stressed if Comets had been involved though ha, ha.

COMETS STAGE U21 QUALIFIER

SATURDAY, JANUARY 21, 2023

WORKINGTON are to stage the 2023 British Under-21 Qualifier, with the meeting set for Sunday May 28.

The new Northside venue takes on the event which has been run at Mildenhall over the past two seasons, and British Youth boss Neil Vatcher has thanked the Comets’ management team of Andrew Bain and James Denham for their assistance.

Vatcher said: “It has not been easy juggling the fixtures to make sure that the Qualifier has a full line-up without riders missing their club fixtures, so I am really pleased that this has been arranged on a day when there are no other fixtures.

“With the way Workington have built their team for the 2023 season full of young British riders, they are sure to have a large representation on the day, which will be great for the home support.”

The full line-up and the seeded riders for the British Under-21 Final will be announced at the Young Lions presentation event taking place at the Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club on Saturday February 11.

There is plenty of space for a carpark am sure i read once it was going to be fenced off and was going to be free?

Yes I was thinking that the land to the left with the circular path was probably going to be used. Not much space anywhere else's parking on the road would be taboo.

Interesting choice of opening date - clashes with Eurovision in Liverpool - let's hope it is an early start

Can't tell if that's a joke or not

The bigger clash is with the Warsaw SGP, of which I and probably some others will be in Poland for!   Disappointed to miss the first league meeting, but hopefully the opening meeting will be something earlier, I saw Mid April suggested
