Championship clubs are obviously not keen to run any more than that though with them not entering the KO Cup. Was hoping to see maybe a 4TT or a Northern section trophy competition, maybe those will have to come in the form of challenge meetings. Every two weeks would work as routine but if them nights are rain offs going weeks without speedway its hard to keep a srong fan base. Totally understand clubs with senior teams thinking this is enough but for a new team like Workington hope fitting in extra meetings can work for them. It's Rugby League territory so if they can dove tail to avoid that it'll be a great benefit. Let's not forget either the absolute crazy Fixture glut forced on the previous Comets in Autumn 2018 because Mr Godfrey caused mayhem with Friday fixtures so he could get a Guest. 10 to 12 meetings on alternate if possible weeks may be ideal. Which by my reckoning = an average of 950 per home game............................quite close then to 1,000.........would you care to agree marra? (Town won twice in 2022, three if you count Ike Southward Trophy). My niggling worry regarding Comets is the stadium is not as amenable for 'walk up' support as Derwent Park is/was.........and all the years experience of following both teams tells me Worky folk like 'home comforts' as it were..........hopefully they'll prove me wrong. Also as an away fan always preferred going to an out of town venue rather than a town centre type ( being an Eastie fan I suppose). Went to Tralawney a couple of times on holiday when they were running, that really was remote in a disused china clay pit, but had a pretty good track, a young Chris Harris and pulled in good numbers.
