I'm not suggesting Ellis did well tonight, did win a heat thought, I'm saying he's the 4th best rider on Polish form, so the sensible option for 4th rider. Whoever is the 4th rider in the final is unlikely to score much at all.

Not really a comparison. The opposition was poor. But hey ho, let’s move on to the final because we will need all at their best.

As to why team GB needs two dick heads to run the thing beggars belief.

Yeah, there are plenty of dick heads on the BSF who could do an equally poor job!

Thought Ellis did well in the two he scored points in but as soon as the track changed a little and he was off 2/3 he didn’t look like quick enough to challenge.

Thats where the managers should have given Brennan a run for me, he did very well to come in so late and make an impact.

What I don't understand is why the stadium was 90% empty?

The tickets were 20 quid a shot, they would've known what the attendance was looking like based on the online sales so surely could've dumped a load of free tickets for the locals to come along?

Because Speedway in Poland is all about the team, when "the team" isn't involved you get crowds like you do in this country. it's why their league Speedway works, no made up the day before teams, full of guests, R/R's and double uppers. It's what the BSPL just don't seem to understand

Because 110 PLN is a lot to a polish person and they aren't interested in supporting anything that they aren't competing in.

Imagine Finland v Italy v Australia v Sweden on a Tuesday night at Scunthorpe. There would be about 45 people there :D

There is never anyone at the early rounds in any country because you always know who's going through.

I would imagine there will be a bigger crowd tonight from the Danish ultras.

Janowski has been awful all year in the GPs, Dudek not much better.  Kolodziej always fails on the World Stage.

And yet he's won a GP, a GP Challenge and was runner-up in last year's European Championship. Hardly a complete failure.

The argument about who should be picked for the GB team seems to centre around who was willing to take part (now or in the past) and the fact that this competition is "in Poland".

I can't speak to the first factor so I'll stick to the squad that 's been announced. Tai, in interview, indicated how different the Wroclaw track is from the other tracks in Poland. I was dismayed to see immediately after this interview, a track as slick as a badger's bum. But (no pun) after extensive work after heat 4 and later, the track started to improve. In particular, those skilled at the outside run e.g. Dan, managed to make outside runs to come from behind. Seeing this, in the second half of the meeting, I was thinking how valuable Bomber would have been at reserve.

Of course there are. You know they all declined? If so, it backs my comment. Harris would give all for GB, doubt he would ever decline and is miles ahead of Ellis.

We'll agree to disagree. I wouldn't necessarily disagree with a change but I'm pretty sure the difference it makes would be negligible.

Would that be the same Worrall who is 35th in the league with a 6.00 average, whilst Ellis is 3rd with 10.00?

Facts don't work with the pro-pugwash agenda :D

No way on earth Harris would be doing what Bewley etc were doing!!! He would be so far off the pace!! Also wouldnt of won heat 1 as it required a good gate

I don't think Harris covered himself in glory the last time he rode at this level, no doubt there's 40 pages of hate on this thread:

il probably regret this but I don't think the Poles are mile's stronger than the Danes or Aussies and I think we have a chance but it needs the top 3 being almost unbeatable. It wasn't long ago we struggled to qualify so big improvement now Dan and Robert have reached world class

The change in the GB set up from beer and pizzas to the current professionalism has shown it’s value. We struggled for so long as a nation to provide any impact and now we have eclipsed Sweden and may well also eclipse Australia and Denmark.

Although Adam Ellis’s score was less than some wanted, (though few expected different)  his heat 1 win against the current World’s second best rider set GB up for a positive night when we were never headed.
I am sure he’s already analysed what went wrong and is working within the team - fellow riders, team managers, sports specialists and engine tuner to help him improve on Saturday.
Flying in a substitute rider now, whoever that might be, has the potential to undermine the whole team on the grounds of “we don’t believe the group of people who have got GB to the final are the right group, so need to make a change”

I don’t believe for one moment that dropping Adam and bringing in a replacement will suddenly make GB a gold medal team. Time will tell…..
