Any HISTORICAL information on speedway in TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS please?

My information indicates that the speedway riders competing at this venue were led by Wally Aukram. Midget cars involved were headed by Frank 'Satan' Brewer.

I have a vague recollection that some New Zealanders raced there in the mid to late1960s,

Surprising, don't you think? Not THAT close to New Zealand, is it?

New Zealanders race here? Okay, name some that race here...

Oh dear! I missed a character in my response - it should have read: "...Nor is the UK but New Zealanders also raced here!!

Thank you, John, very interesting. Have you any idea why they went to the Turks and Caicos Islands?

Answer as requested in first quote Norbold. Obviously to take part in racing!

Speedway has never been popular in the Caribbean, so I am still surprised that a country such as Turks and Caicos would even have a track.

Wow! Thanks for that really helpful answer, John. I don't think that would ever have entered my mind.

See? You're never too old to learn!

I now understand I created confusion  in regard to my indications that speedway took place in the Turks and Caicos.  IT DID NOT. The racing I said took  place there was in  fact staged in New Guinea!!!

That makes a LOT more sense! Now you can understand our reactions here. That's why I also made the point that Turks and Caicos is in the Caribbean, as it really didn't seem likely...
