Are there any public left watching??

Given the lateness of the hour and the tanking the home team were getting more than you might imagine.

More pertinently how many riders do Mildenhall have left?

[Clue: it was less than one and rhymes with bun]

Isn't this the stadium that was under the threat of closure due to late night noise issues, brought on by the complaints from a local resident?

I suppose though given they all seem to be struggling to finish the season in the correct month, finishing a meeting in the same day should be applauded....  :D

Is this the latest a speedway meeting has ever run in this country?

Double Headers at White City finished around midnight. I was there for one of them, when the Witches defeated the Rebels in the first meeting, and then the Rebels beat King's Lynn in the second - therefore it was a splendid night, and the late finish was irrelevant :)

This was 40ish years ago!

That was 2012-14 when a couple bought an old house in the middle of nowhere, then complained about the noise from the speedway (and motocross), and even noise from KC-135 Stratotankers taking off and landing at RAF Mildenhall!

Feel genuinely sad and sorry for the Promotion here.

They have battled on against all the odds really to stay running as standalone NDL as they simply can't afford anything else but can make NDL work.

They have to deal with Stocks wrecking the track on most Saturday nights giving them minimal time to prepare and take all the flak that generates from some keyboard warriors who haven't a clue about the work involved and the work they put in.

They continue to develop talent and should be roundly applauded and supported for that.

Not their fault that sometimes other clubs can't do Sundays; and they have no doubt been forced by circumstances mostly outside of their control to run what should be "seasons biggest matches" in October when it's convenient for Clubs who are running 2 teams.

Lets hope they can continue and can thrive and not be another lost NDL Club like Stoke and Buxton.

Iwade have shown the way and another that deserve massive credit, hopefully Workington will provide new and fresh impetus for this vital tier.

Brilliantly put. Mildenhall is a great little stadium that has survived against the odds due to the hard work of its promoters, management, riders and supporters. It has a proud history at this grass roots level of the sport, and long may it continue.

My dad went and said he'd never known a meeting like it where one of the teams actually ran outta riders by the end, Mildenhall were running outta riders left right and centre and couldn't even field one rider come the last heat.

Running R/R for a match is risky even without a no 8, to attempt a double header without one is plainly ridiculous.

To be fair Mildy had a number 8 and he got promoted to the 1-7 for the second meeting. Unfortunately its just an unforgiving venue that often sees rider withdrawals (but i won't blame the track as its never the track and just a complete coincidence)

Laker was always programmed to ride at no 6 in second meeting. Boughen couldn't ride in the second match without obtaining an average so had only been booked for the first.

The most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Could do one meeting but not the 2nd because he didn't have an average... Sums the sport up completely.

Not because he didn't have an average but because he doesn't want one before next season

Truly a ridiculous way to run a sport....

Any sport....

Even worse when it tries to pass itself off as "professional"...

The only year I think the sport has been well ran and organised in the past three decades or so was when Covid shut it down...

The end to this season, indeed the season in total, has been particularly poorly delivered.....

Next season no doubt will be a similar 'rinse and repeat' story line with absolutely nothing learned or changed off the back of it...

Hence so many passionate fans of the sport will pay infrequent visits, if any at all, once again, yet spend plenty of money watching it elsewhere...
