No speedway for 15 years , happy to pay an extra £16 for the whole season.

Goodwill and novelty wear thin quickly. It’s great that Oxford have Speedway back but a 10% price increase year on year and you’ll be paying £30 for 15 minutes of racing before long. That’s before we even factor in the yearly decrease in standard of product.

I”m sure Oxford’s cost will have gone up by 10% so it needs to be past on.

There’s only so far things can be passed on. Those fans expected to pay 10% extra each meeting will be having to spend more just to live right now. Something has to give. If it’s putting food on the table or going to watch 15 minutes of sport there will only be one winner with most. That’s not just for Oxford, it’s across the board.

obviously if you raise admission price by 10% income from admissions will not rise by 10%,i believe in financial parlance its called "the law of diminishing returns" each promotion has got to decide how big a gamble they want to take and a gamble it certainly is

Speedway has always been 15mins of sport and prices go up every year and  fans will choose what they do it’s their call

will you be going?

That’s correct,Oxford are in the enviably good position with a great crowd level and can probably take a bit of hit regarding pricing. Some Clubs will suffer more. if price increases reduce attendances .Like you fans say will choose.

15 minutes based upon fifteen heats (?) but I remember the days of Second Halves when either the "main players" took part with a smattering of assets/juniors (we had the likes of Eastbourne & Peterborough riders take part due to the promotional tie-up at Cowley/White City) and later Junior Matches plus, of course, the occasional Golden/Silver Helmet Match Race(s) thrown in plus Individual/4TT/3TT/Pairs/Test Matches which had a variety of race formulae. Meetings often had up to twenty races at times. It's often argued that many left after the main event and that was their prerogative but many stayed on to catch all the action and therefore got more for their money.

I guess that was in the old 13 heat format plus a couple of junior type races ?

Did you not have to pay more to watch the test matches or were they all the same admission.

I think the big question about the price increase is whether a booking fee is still included. There's currently no mention of it on the Oxford website (there was before). If the new £20 ticket price does include the booking fee, it's only a £1 increase over last season (£18+£1) - that's not too bad considering the current circumstances.

Still not sure about £22 on the day one especially if the weather forecast isn't great.

Yeah, fair point. I normally buy mine as soon as they go on sale, but I'm sure there are plenty of people that did buy on the day last season.

Maybe they could clarify that.

Funny you should say that, I just looked through the website trying to find an answer. There's no mention of it in ticket section, but the press release/news story states the following...

*Advanced tickets are available until midnight the day before the event date. The above admission prices include a ticket booking fee.

Does Oxford have a live streaming service for a cost? If so it’s almost like the promoter doesn’t want fans in the actual stadium?
£22 for second division speedway in the current climate is irresponsible, cut costs if they want to be more viable, not keep hammering the paying supporter.

Said it so many times, cut costs for riders will then trickle down the line, it’s not rocket science.

Isn't rocket science meant to make the bikes go quicker?  Asking for a friend.......:party:

The old 13 heat formula was followed by a couple of scratch races involving juniors/assets plus four heats and a final involving those who took part in the main match so normally, although it varied from track to track, consisting of twenty heats.

4TT were run over sixteen heats. 3TT eighteen heats. Best Pairs 21 heats and Individual Meetings over 20 with run-off's if required.

Test matches were run on behalf of the BSPA and were priced differently from what I remember.

Includes booking fee then so only £1 a meeting more even better
