That's a bit of a Catch 22 - the BSPL is the promoters so them teaching themselves isn't going to get them anywhere f they don't know how to start with.

We need an independent ruling body if the sport is to survive because as things stand each promoter votes on what they see as beneficial to their own team and they ignore the bigger picture.

The BSPL would arrange the seminars but have proven experts from outside the sport to do the presentations.

Going head to head with Edinburgh on a Friday evening was a bad move IMO. Sunday afternoon is more family friendly and you would get the odd punter coming along the M8 for their fix.

Tend to agree with you but I'm surprised Monarchs never tried a Saturday, their old race night, it may have attracted a few more from Edinburgh.

As for promoters promoting the sport, Glasgow do a good job. But on my 1 visit and watching on BSN  this year the crowd looked poor,. I've always said pick one meeting, do promotion like when a circus comes to town, can't move for advertising, discount tickets available the circuses seem to do well so speedway can maybe do the same.

As a matter of interest what exactly do Glasgow do, as like you the BSN meetings didn't seem that well attended. I'm not sure the 'circus coming to town' is a decent comparison as it's very different to promote/publicise a one-off event that is only 'in town' for a few days at most, to a weekly activity (similar to the Cardiff gp).

Sunday means competing with football at some times (not great when there's usually one of the Old Firm playing most Sundays during the season), and things like F1 at others. That's probably not great for attracting casual fans. That said, the racing at Armadale.isnt good enough to make it a big problem for me. If Edinburgh get a new stadium where you get better racing, maybe I'd feel more FOMO.

What I'm getting at is when a circus comes to town you can't move for adverts or flyers. But speedway promotion imo is trying to keep the sport a secret  yes Glasgow do promote but a lot of it is on social media, when my team was alive (comets) we live in an area that's full of tourists, but very very rarely do you see posters trying to attract the tourists or other people from the area . It is a minimal cost to print posters and get out up in shops ets

Not too much this year, previously free entry tickets, billboard advertising etc. TV advert campaign this year although the timing was all wrong, towards the end of July and saying Friday nights. There were only two Friday meetings in the next two months.

TV advertising is a bit of a waste of money imo, they would be better doing more targeted social media slots, eg advertising on football forums during the summer when football closes down would be an avenue they could explore. Wouldn't cost much either, sometimes just 'word of mouth' online can do the trick.

Surely Vissing will be the final rider ? Looks a bargain on a 5 point average.

Well, he would definitely seem to be the best option but let’s not forget, the idea of Vissing came from us fans due to his ideal average but there’s been nothing obvious from any other angle to indicate that it may be him. Another thing I noticed was that Cammy Brown is one of Keynan Rew’s friends on Facebook. Kenyan’s average would fit the gap but now the query over his injuries???….just saying…..

To me it’s about the experience when attending, good viewing , good racing, friendly people at the gates , clean toilets, good food and drink outlets and a warm welcome from the Glasgow fans.

Ashley Morris ?

Not if you listen to Gavin Parr interview. He said something about Ashley was going to ride for Redcar in Champ and Leicester in Prem. But they felt his heart isn't really into speedway anymore and they feel they would be forcing him to ride and they didn't want to do that.

Cami may well be one of Claus Vissing's friends on Facebook too and possibly wouldnt be the one from the club involved in negotiating deals and terms ..... just saying.
