Glasgow 2023

For those teams taking a 2 pointer at reserve the pressure is going to be on your number 6 to perform and take the extra rides if needed. By the ways the team building appears to be going, Glasgow  are going to be incredibly strong 1-5 and hoping that the reserves can hold there own, personally I would’ve done everything to squeeze Paul starke at 6, but taking Ben alone meant even if it was Danny,Chris,Richie,Scotty as the other heat leader the averages just wouldn’t fit in to get over a 4.5 in at 6.

You maybe race against the same opponents but I'd argue it's harder as you're out in ht 1 when your unsure of how exactly the track will be.

It's not that long ago, before your rider with the highest average had to ride at 1, that The Tigers top averaged rider rode at No5 so he could see how the track was riding before he took his first ride.

A true No 1 would come in after ht 1 and advise his team mates on how the track was.

Not sure how it can be harder in heat one, even if a rider is unsure of how the track will be, the other 3 riders in the race will be in the same boat.

Similar comments are often made at the GPs it's hard being at number one (out after each track grade), but I'm like - it's the same track for all 4 riders!

In a GP there are 5 heats on a fresh track: 1,5,9,13,17. Riders nos. 2-16 each appear in one of them, but rider no 1 is in all five.

But I agree with your initial point

Heat 1 also has the added advantage that there is rarely a question mark over where on the track to ride. If you make a start and hug the kerb, it's not often you'll get passed. Obviously the No 1s have an outside gate, but if you ride at 5 and are out in heat 4, the track can be starting to develop by then where there can be more than one line. Truth is some riders like going out in heat 1 to set the tone, some really do not.

Lot depends if your 2 pointer is better than the other 2 pts.Reserves have to have 3 rides anyway as do Team Members so not a lot of changing can be done, main one being swapping of reserves.Who are Glasgows incredible Top5 then.

Vissing and Nowak to follow no idea who our number 1 will be.

It may well be that it will be a number 5 if his average is below 8.52.

I would loved to have seen Paul Starke back in the Stripes too but the story seems to be " his body doesn't take the bouncing very well these days" so he's retired.

I think a lot will be determined this season at every team by who is riding at 6 and 7 and particularly by who the 2 pointers are.

I think a key could be if any of the CL teams are also running an NDL team they could get a 2 pt man getting extra home track time and building up knowledge and experience.
