Diablo
All rumours regarding the new look Glasgow team & Harris has already been on board briefly & is a non starter for next season. More chance tempting Howarth & Morris to head north but the big bucks have to go to Pickering who is box office on the bike like Basso. Diamonds85
Ive always though any team who could get Basso and pickering in the same team have got to be the most entertaining team in the league, regardless of who else is signed. Howarth would be my shout if I was a Glasgow fan, him and Basso would be a brilliant 1 and 5. Edited November 14, 2022 by Diamonds85
Fromafar
Is Basso a genuine No 1 at this stage of his career would be my question.Or have Glasgow have some to replace a genuine Top Man that Cook was.Interesting.

Basso had a very good season, but it was riding in a second string position, he maybe had one or two matches at 1 or 5. He's an improving rider so I'd have no fear about him stepping up again this year even racing at number 1. Also teams don't actually need to have a "genuine top man" to win the league, 7 good riders could do it also!

Hull Vikings did that in 2004 when they won the treble if I remember right 6 of the 7 riders had a spell at reserve during the season

cinderfella
I think Basso has to calm down a little and become a consistent rider rather than the spectacular 'dive round the boards and clipping the fence' type. Yes is looks good but it also drops points and can lead to falls and injuries which is the last thing a league chasing team needs. I don't think he is quite a No1 yet but bringing in an experienced, steading influence could help him reach that status by the end of the season. Perhaps his fellow countryman Hans Anderson would be worth a shout?

Six heatleaders in that side. Always think strength in depth trumps top heavy in the long run.

How many strength in depth Teams have won the Championship in the last 20 years.Tends to be decent Top 2 and a reserve who really improves .IMO ps with a bit of luck you need with injuries. Didn't Workington win it with 6 Riders on averages between 6 and 7 (or thereabouts) who'd all had a spell at No 1 and No 6 and a wobbler in Bickley

I don't see any problem with him being a number one.
