Mr Blobby
Wright or someone else was always going to end up having a bad one, with his over aggressive riding style. Hope his recovery goes well. Edited September 12, 2023 by Mr Blobby 2

Personally think Rory has had a decent season, seemed to be giving hit his best shot any time I have seen him.I though he was a poor signing for Bandits given I don’t think Shielfield is one of his better tracks, butI take that back as he certainly done the job he was brought into do.IMO.He was our only decent rider away from home. Sedgmen, Batchelor, Andersen, Flint? Howarth could only guest at home! Of course Redcar will have more options for the KOC semi finals. Probably Sedgmen, Schlein has had some poor meetings including his guest appearances and recent meetings for Wolves so would be a risk. Howarth would be my pick for home meetings. You can't blame him for going for the big bucks in Poland, very unlucky to get injured and I would suggest his crash had nothing to do with his riding style just very unfortunate.

Am sure 12 points or so at redcar would pay better than 2 in poland!

The vast majority of Redcar fans and the management of Redcar speedway would say that’s tosh. He took advantage of an opportunity to ride in the top league in the world and circumstances (injury to Woffy) meant he was called up to a meeting on a day when Redcar had a meaningless (in terms of the play offs) fixture. Some Bears fans have already set up a go fund me for him, so they don’t think he’s “given up” on Redcar. Yes it’s awful timing for the Bears (and Belle Vue) but that’s insignificant compared to his health, He’s suffered some horrific injuries and is likely to be in hospital for some time. If you’ve seen the crash you’ll see it’s nothing to do with his riding style and just a speedway accident. Get well soon Charles, a brilliant servant to Redcar speedway. 9

Given riders don't get help from the Ben fund if they get injured riding on the IOW (Nora) I'd assume they wouldn't pay out for someone injured in Poland. I'm 99% sure British Speedway is the only nation with such a fund, maybe with the big pay checks riders can get in Poland, they put something aside in case of injuries? Not that this is the case for Wright who got injured in his first match. Get well soon Charles
