Berwick 2023.

Recommended Posts

With the 2022 season over for the Bandits, it's time to look towards 2023.

I would like to see Chris and Leon back.

Hopefully get Jonas and his brother unless they get fixed up in the main leagues in Poland.

Like to see Ace get a place at reserve.

Others depend on the team average.

Ace a at least a season away from a champ place

At the start of 2016, Dan Bewley was very much outclassed in the Championship, but stuck at it (and Edinburgh stuck with him) as he developed through the year.  Ace should be given the same chance.

Poole have stuck with Ablitt all season so if we can build a strong top 6 why not give Ace a chance

Yeah and given the rumoured reduction in the points limit probably going to find most clubs running with a 2 pointer. And look at his u21 effort, beat some very decent riders that night

Bewley is a poor example to use!! There are many many more examples of riders thrown in to early and then never progressing any further because it was to early!! What is the obsession with Speedway fans of putting riders in before there ready its rarely done in other sports

Exactly bewley completely different, just look at Harry mcgurk this year its ruined him and to be honest I'd say ablitt confidence took a knock from poor champ season

Imo season to early he often hits tapes and over tries

Doesn't help that at least one Prem No1 is riding in the Champ! They really need to put a cap on who is too good to ride in this league.

Bickley is probably a better example of how confidence can be shot if promoted too soon.

Harry McGurk too.

Ace needs another NDL season and occasional chances in CL if reserves missing or as No 8

Most definitely the step from nl to champ is a big jump

Ace Pijper is no where near Championship level and it would be a mistake to rush him into the 2023 team. One more year at NDL racing will do him much more good.

Rumours last Saturday night Chris and Leon are Oxford bound.Think it's to early for Ace,but Worky done it with Kyle and had not to bad a season, agree about Jonas and his brother.

Rumours a few weeks ago were Chris and Leon Oxford bound if they moved up which is not happening now

Thank it'd be a massive mistake for Berwick to run with Ace. Unless the points limit gets dramatically reduced. Being realistic, Berwick won't be running with a top heavy side and if thongs stay the way they are then it runs the risk of Berwick going under the limit once again.

I disagree with the Bickley comment, after his first season at Workington, he's always had a 3+ ave. Plus he was a top NL heat leader before moving up. The form of riders like McGurk, Ablitt & Freeman are better examples of riders moving up too soon!

Bickley is just a case of not much improvement over the last 3 seasons.Plenty before him have been in the same boat.

  • 4 weeks later...

So following last night's End of Season Awards night, we now know that Leon Flint will captain the team in 2023

That probably signals that Bomber is moving on if Leon is captain

Jorgensen and Schlein to be the other two heat leaders for the Bandits in 2023 is my guess
