POOLE 2023

Recommended Posts

I think if Poole do 2 changes and make Newman unemployed at this stage it'll be a disgrace, with some British replacements available, or even a newby from abroad. Still will add a few hundred more pages on here if they do I suppose.

Yes could do Broc Nicol instead of Batch for a double change. Though would have sort a visa out?

Think you'd be better with kemp or young Dan than having broc. Seemed to go backwards last season seems hamstrung with shoulder issue.

If its to be a double change - and I doubt it, but what do I know?! - why is Batch the only option with Ablitt or a 2-pointer??

If its Roynon to be dropped then that gives 8.7 or thereabouts to play with, so Ablitt and anyone upto 6.70 ish could fit.

Think best options at that average would be tempting auty, ulle or spud summers out of retirement

Yeah, you prob right. I know it was in 2021 but this is what i remember whenever i see Broc is coming to Poole:

Poole Pirates = 57

1. Rory Schlein - 2', 3, 3, 1' = 9+2
2. Alfie Bowtell (G) - 3, 0, 0, 1 = 4
3. Steve Worrall - 2', 3, 2, 3, 1 = 11+1
4. Stefan Nielsen - 3, 2', 1', 1 = 7+2
5. Danny King - 3, 3, 2', 2, 3 = 13+1
6. Ben Cook - 2, 0, 3, 3 = 8
7. Danyon Hume - 1', 2', 1, 1 = 5+2

Scunthorpe Scorpions = 33

1. Broc Nicol (G) - 0, 1, 3, 0, 3, 2, 2 = 11
2. Simon Lambert - 1, 1, R, 3, 1, R = 6
3. Theo Pijper - 1, 2, 2, 0, 0 = 5
4. Tero Aarnio - 0, 1', Xt, 0 = 1+1
5. Thomas Jorgensen - R/R (SL-1, TP-2, BN-3, TA-0) = 6
6. Jordan Palin - 3, 0, 0, 2, 2, 0 = 7
7. Dillon Ruml (G) - 0, 1', 2' = 3+2

Mentioned this before but Broc has a shoulder issue that's never going to be as good as it was and may deteriorate with or without further knocks.

It explains why he hasn't kicked on form wise since Covid break as just about everyone expected him to do.

Kyle definitely would be hard done by if left out, Roynon would have only himself to blame having shafted Plymouth after agreeing a deal.

I don't think they will as there ain't a whole lot between Jack, Kemp, Rowe and Thompson, but IF Poole decided to drop another rider to bring in Ablitt + 1 then that's sport IMO, and the custodians of the club have to do what's best for it as a whole. A bit harsh on the rider admittedly but as we've seen in recent seasons riders can agree deals and then go back on them leaving clubs in the lurch so it works both ways.

Wouldn't go near Batch personally and I'm not convinced Ablitt is good enough. Thompson for Thomas the best bet I reckon.

It’s very unfortunate what has happened to jack thomas and I feel so sorry for him but if Poole make 2 changes to compensate for it in my eyes is disgraceful putting someone out of a job this close to the season is bang out of order with the points Poole have there is enough decent riders to fill that spot this is one interested person to see the morals of messers ford.

What? Poole putting a rider out of work to make the team stronger?

C'mon...we all know that Poole will do whatever it takes to give them the best possible chance of 'winning' ! (quite rightly so IMO!)

There's a big difference between making a mid-season change to strengthen up and dropping a rider pre-season with no team spots available though!

Anyway as far as I'm concerned replacing Thomas for Thompson, Kemp or Rowe doesn't make Pirates any weaker - so if for example Batchelor & Ablitt is stronger than Thomas & Newman, why wouldn't they start with that team?

Morals? Lol. They put the club first instead of individual riders. Having said that there are exceptions to that like Darcy and BK.

No way will Poole do a double change, Skidder1 loves to throw a few red herrings in the mix:t:

Don't shoot the messenger. I'm only quoting what's in the Speedy Star.

Anyway you can ask Garry May tomorrow if you're meeting up with others. He'll probably know..............!?;)
