Who would buy a speedway club?

It's going to haemorrhage money and you can't even run it like a business, as outside forces tell you how to run your business - what days you can operate, what contractors you can employ, and so on.

And your employees have their own wider agendas, so tell you when you can open for business..

With your existing loyal customers, and any potential new customers, having to accept these opening hours with a "take it or leave it" offering...

No serious business person would buy a speedway promotion just to generate tax losses. They would have to lose £40k to save £10k in corporation tax, costing £30k net.

A serious speedway fan who is in business might though because it would only cost them £30k to pour £40k in to the money pit that is promoting British speedway.

The key element of all this is that in many cases there's nothing to buy.

What price would you put on, for example, Ipswich?

That's correct, Louis no longer owns the stadium do they? I think Speedworth bought that?

As a new owner, you're probably just purchasing the bond, licence, assets then may be £20k for the name.

£50-£70k all in

Don't forget the clapped out old tractors... they must be worth quite a bit at the vintage classic tractor auctions :D

You can't have it both ways... and your business credentials?

My business credentials are irrelevant and please don’t try to shoot the messenger. The fact is the financial mess at KL and PB (plus the farcical mismanagement during his time at BSPA) is all down to Chapman. He is the owner and he has the full responsibility and no one else.

So, really you have no business credentials, yet are happy to criticise him for for his "very limited business acumen". And what exactly is the financial mess at KL? Have you thought that Buster may need to liquidate some of his assets and/or move actual cash into the club, to dig the club out of the mess it has clearly been left in? This is not the work of a moment.

The "incompetent fool Chapman" has kept Lynn in business for over 30 years, and saved Peterborough. This is not speculation or hear-say it is a fact. Yet many on here want to see him out of the sport... and for who? Nobody is queuing up to buy these clubs, there's some show ponies who are talking the talk, but when push comes to shove are not walking the walk

He didn't save Peterborough. He bought it to save the Premiership & it's TV deal

There's the irony....

In that time we have had Rickardsson Gollob Louus Loram Nicholls Doyle Sayfutdinov etc

We have also traditionally had great levels of support with arguably the largest consistent attendances of any club

We have been fortunate with great sponsors even before Guy and TRU from the likes of Woodward , Sackers etc

Ipswich is currently very stable and secure but have won pretty much eff all

Tomalin said he wanted to buy PB pre season, and still wants it apparently. £40k is "chump change" to him , " just one of his cars"  it has been said. As a big Panthers fan, who has built an "empire" his words,  he could buy it now. After all he could probably buy it with the sponsor money that he apparently hasn't paid, after falling out with Buster.

PB was going to drop down, and Buster bought them to keep the Prem going. But as you say about Lynn, is a fact, and there wouldn't of been a Prem with a TV deal if it wasn't for him buying PB. So putting his money where his mouth is. And he wasn't doing to make a profit with the state speedway was/is in .Unlike some wanna be owner. I've said enough on that one.

He's not perfect by a long way. PB fans can't wait to blame him for everything, PB and Lynn. I know he owns them, but there has been a lot of goings on that, i'm sure are not all Busters fault at PB.. As for Lynn. He's been chucked in the deep end by Alex, who was running Lynn, including team building, and paying the riders. He's trying to save the Stars again. Easy target i guess.:t:
