torpointfanatic22
A sadly embarrassing end to a dreadful season for Plymouth. Two wins from 16 and the wooden spoon, can't help but wonder if we'll be back next season. Fingers crossed we are.
Mike0310
No way in the world if our riders stayed fit would we have finished last, the luck the riders and promotion have had to deal with this year no team could absorb. Sometimes throughout the season I’ve been critical of a few things but that’s heat of the moment stuff I’m thankful very thankful that I’ve had a team to support and I very much hope we are back at tapes next season.

SteveLyric2
So Plymouth seeking a Commercial Manager to bring in more funds to allow them to compete in 2024. Planning to run Saturdays (or Tuesdays when it's a GP weekend) for which permission already given by SCB, and to be ratified at BSPL AGM in Tenerife in November! That's really encouraging news, provided they can recruit the right person....... Local businesses should be made aware of speedway's potential of raising brand awareness, as well as the fidelity of fans who tend to "help the people who help speedway". It would be a tragedy if the south-west, where speedway has been a welcome attraction in Cornwall, at Exeter, Bristol and Somerset, were to lose the only track for well over a hundred miles in any direction...... 3

I find the article in the local rag to be the usual fluff to be honest. How any promoter can come out and blame people on social media for dropping a rider is utter twoddle. Anyone that knows Mark knows he does it his way and that's the end of it. Plymouth also probably has the lowest number of social media posters in the all the leagues, I can only think of about three or four Plymouth fans that post regularly on here and the Plymouth forum is absolutely dead! The team assembled was always likely to struggle given the weakness at reserve, completely agree we had horrid luck with injuries and the form of a couple of riders at the top end let us down but it's time to own it and stop shifting the blame. Hopefully mistakes have been learnt from. I sincerely hope Plymouth can return as it's Mark's passion for the sport that's keeping it going in the west country and fingers crossed we can bring in someone who can generate the sponsorship required. Saturday's could be a good move and may entice a few more riders down to Plymouth given they won't be travelling south west on a Tuesday! If we are back, it will be interesting to see the sort of team assembled. I imagine Trigger and Barker will be on the list given they are local, Barker is a relative of Mark's and Trigger I assume was given this season as a stepping stone to better things in 2024. Outside of that I wouldn't be surprised to see five newbies.

Also Berwick had a massive gap in fixtures this year and could be due to teams not agreeing to certain dates as would have riders missing? But we don't know what is happening with the leagues yet and Plymouth need to do what is best for them.
HGould
Saturdays would surely bring in more kids, more families and more lapsed SW speedway fans from Cornwall and Somerset more often than Tuesdays or Fridays. I think the Polish argument is a red herring, MORE riders don't ride in Poland than those who do. I don't think clashes with SGP should affect Saturdays too much. You'd lose more on Tuesday than you wiujd on a Saturday clash with GP. The core support could record, the floating support wouldn't be watching SGP anyway Good crowds watch winning teams. Plymouth have been in CL for 3 seasons. It's a unique track an outlier. Employ or ask someone with a statistical mind to identify track specialists. Aim to win at home first and foremost. If you win by enough you pick up bonus point. Workington won CL in 2018 with 6 riders between 7.5 and 6 piin average. Track specialists in other words. The recipe is simple Saturdays, don't worry about GPs, identify track specialists, budget to have a solid home centric team and be firm with home fixture planning when it suits home team Focus on May to mid August to attract any footy fans. Big sponsors are hard to find, 10 medium ones less so. 50 small ones easier still Be great to see Plymouth back BTW. I'd be on the blower to Barker Pearson, Keleher for starters. szkocjasid
Given how few home matches Plymouth have ridden this year, 8 league, 2 BSN, 1 KOC, if the fixture list is similar next season, there would be no need to race on Saturdays or Tuesdays on GP weekends?
