If as others have stated, Connor Mountains average of 4.51 is only subject to a 2.5% reduction ( as with Tom Brennan ) then I can see Lions lining up as follows ....

Max Fricke 8.55

Richard Lawson 7.71

Chris Harris 7.40

Nick Morris 6.48

Justin Sedgmen 4.44

Connor Mountain 4.40

Dan Thompson RS

Total : 38.98

Thoughts anyone?

Seems solid enough to me ....

Zach Cook for Justin Sedgmen and that'll probably be the team imo.

You seriously need to get over your infatuation with Jake Allen! What is it with you and him?

Jake Allen is on a bargain average, but if we are not going to use the extra point I'd stick with Sedgmen.

PS Either way it will be tough for Mountain riding in top 5.

Belle Vue thought the same and look how that went. Allen seems to have taken the same route as Cameron Heeps, down.

He's on a bargain average for a reason :D

What’s a bargain in 2022  ? let alone 23 ,number game lads

The only "bargain" averages are those riders that started their careers here and then ditched the BL and made their names and became better riders on the continent and would come back on their old averages, or maybe riders with assessed averages. Riders with poor averages because they've had a crap season are not bargains imo

I would add to this, a rider who moves club's and away average is higher than his home average was in the previous season, plus to a lesser extent, a rider who rode as a heat leader in the previous season but you sign for a second string spot.

I would also add, 'a rider who scores a disproportionately high number of bonus points' previously

Not sure if you can really compare Allen/Heeps

not last season but the season before when Jake came back to Ipswich last minute when really planning to be out of the UK for the year he started in very good form which dipped but from memory you had Jake, Starke and someone else who really needed to be riding at no.6 to gain some confidence back, he ended up riding at no.2 or no.4 as his average didn't drop enough to fall into the reserve spot due to the form of the other two riders!

Last season he didn't have a prem place, got a last minute call up to Belle Vue which didn't go as planned, he had some bike issues at the start of last season, where as for example Danny King did but he was allowed time in his teams to get it right which he did towards the end of the season he did just like lots of riders really, he then got into the Sheffield team, got injured and Sedgman came in on fire was had to keep his place, think Jake done his scaphoid which is one of the injuries you wouldn't want as a speedway rider, think my old man had a couple of these injuries.

Anyway in comparison one is still riding at HL level in the championship, one is hanging on as a reserve in the same league

Jake on a 4.00 average is worth a punt for any side in the prem really, but I would probably say that he needs to show his form in the championship early doors this season and if changes then happen in the prem, he will be high on the list of riders to come in on that average, no brainer if he is averaging 7/8+ in the championship to bring him in on a 4.00 and ride at no.6 for any of the prem sides

Mountain gets 25% off his 2022 GSA apparently.

Someone had mentioned that's not the case because the advantage Belle Vue would get for Brennan, other teams vetoed it.

Believe it's still just the 2.5%

I certainly hope that's not the case. The 25% rule for former rising stars when introduced ahead of the 2021 season. I can't see how they can cancel (a well thought out rule) before it ever gets used because some clubs won't benefit from it!

I was delighted when it was first announced, thinking they're putting British riders first & trying to ensure the biggest improvers don't then get dropped (as can happen frequently sadly).

Look at how Poland treat their youngsters 2 x U21 riders at reserve all year. When Smektala & Kubera were the strongest juniors, they didn't cancel the rule because it helped some clubs (i.e Leszno) more than others!

Nick Morris?

Not sure he's captain material... seems a bit moany whenever he's interviewed, I suppose the obvious choice is Bomber but, much as I love him, he's a bit of a mercenary these days. There's no other obvious choice really

I would hand it to Lawson.

I think Morris could do a good job as captain. He seems very professional in his approach and expects others to be the same. Perhaps he can be a bit moany, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing - I remember him having a go at one or two team members in an after-match interview in the 2021 season when he claimed they turned up with poorly maintained equipment.

Still, we don't know the full team yet so there may be other candidates.
