Belle Vue v Ipswich Play off semi 2nd leg 3 Oct

Recommended Posts

Well, if anyone questions why the top British riders opt out of the UK to concentrate on Poland, I think we saw why last night.

Lambert was a class above all the others - even Jason Doyle.

No matter about the rights and the wrongs of Belle Vue bringing him in at this stage of the season he was great to watch.

Noticed a few sombreros on the terraces. How did this Madchester Mexican thing originate? Saw Swindon up there years ago,  a bunch of foul-mouthed chanting Sombrero-wearing buggers.

Superb from Lambert and Zagar, Doyle met his match. Ipswich totally outclassed. Good to see Swindon lad Brennan and Wootton Bassett boy Rowe. Seemed a good attendance last night, and great race track compared to Wolves.

completely agree about Wolves, how they expect riders to race on a track prepared like that is unforgivable.

Again you’re completely missing the point! Not sure many DO think it’s better to use guests actually. Supporters don’t make the rules and plenty don’t agree with a lot of them. The issue is expecting clubs to keep to the rules that they’ve all agreed to whether you agree with them or not.

They have kept to the rules.

Whatever anyone thinks about the rights and wrongs of the Lambert signing, he was sensational tonight and for however long he is involved again in British speedway he'll be a great asset to the sport.

One thing is for certain, he didn't just turn up for a paycheck tonight.

He turn up because of the size of the paycheque. The opposition was not a problem, let’s face it he only had Doyle to beat.

Seriously. We could actually count the number of fans on the back straight. Be lucky to have had 12-1400 in the whole stadium.

For starters over 1000 advanced ticket sales in grandstand. Probably 100 more on day if not more. The craven was full that holds about 200

about 600 in south stand last night at a gues. Easily over 1500 there but still small for a semi

It may be in here somewhere, but to save me going through what I’m guessing is 23 pages of Belle Vue cheated v. Belle Vue were within the rules - did they say when the play off final dates were please?

If Sheffield go through which you will. It will be

belle Vue -v- Sheffield monday

sheffield -v- belle Vue Thursday

They've been around for years, I think I remember the sombrero wearing Ace's fans at Monmore in 2004.

It started in 2004 season which was a very wet summer and Belle Vue had lot of meetings rained off, group of fans turned it into Mexico as bit of fun. The sombreros tend to only come out for playoffs now.

What is this utter BS bringing in Lambert?

Funny, when I read about it, it reminded me of Poole drafting in Greg Hancock just for the play-off's against the Brummies in 2013. Didn't hear any Poole fans complaining about it back then.

Ah. That old myth. Don’t let the truth get in the way of a fevered defence of the indefensible. Hancock first rode for Poole on 5 August 2013 and completed 4 home and 3 away meetings before the play offs. Hardly being signed “just for the play offs”

Good to see Lambert back in the UK (regardless of circumstances:neutral:) - will he be back next season tho?

Witches tried in the opening half of the meeting but fell away badly as the night progressed - they were out of it and it showed sadly! If its a Sheffield v Bv final I will certainly attend the Owlerton leg

He’s was replacing Chris Holder who had suffered multiple injuries similar to Max this year. Something that bizarrely BSF get off on as it weakens their rivals. Bit sick if you ask me but everyone’s different I suppose.

The worse thing about that particular season was Middlo forcing his riders out onto a dangerous rain effected track he himself said was bad. My low opinion of him dropped even lower as I still had poor Chris’ incident in my mind. All for a bit of silverware, shocking.
