To be honest we've had riders that cannot win a raffle let alone a race. Perhaps one of our esteemed local hacks could put together a book on crap Ipswich riders? Mind you it would probably be thicker than the old testament!

Would you include crap but entertaining rides? Karol Baran was shocking but watching him try to stay on was superb! That 360 in front of Crump was pure entertainment!

Crap might be a bit much but plenty that promised but failed to deliver regularly what was expected. Better to be a trier than a gating tart....

The likes of Howe, Rempala, Sucheki, Baran, Manzares and even Miskowiak could be in that category ( especially when Misko wanted a place the following year)

Ben Howe was a bit like Kemp and had plenty of talent but not always the right attitude and didn't have tip top machinery, me and a few mates used to sponsor him when he first got a place in the team, i remember at the time when a big thing was made of him being made a Jawa works rider, the kit he actually got was second hand most of it and not worth having.

@ cowboy cookie

I cannot reply to any posts (keyboard issues) anyway but what about salvatelli with his four ride doughnuts 0000 against lynn in July 88?

However he did show promise towards the end and I guess would have been a dead cert for 89 if shears had stayed on!

Showing my age a bit now but as i mentioned Ben Howe earlier what ever happened to Jerran Hart, i remember he got sent down a few yrs ago but he was the next big thing as a 15/16yr old, there's been many a young lad second half round Foxhall at 15/16yr old and have different levels of success as a speedway rider, Loram, Louis, Howe, Tacey, Clouting, Lanham, King and most recently Kemp.

What about when we brought back Baldwin,,, lovely bloke,,, but way out of his depth after many years of retirement. Also young Osborne who we often drafted in as a 8 and used in some meetings,,,, so far off the pace needed it was ridiculous,,,,again,,,a lovely young lad at the time.

I can beat that, what about when Kevin Teager came back, he actually had a few decent meetings tbf.

Remember that, 1993? Was rained off but result stood, think he won his last two races.

Someone mentioned miskowiak - he ceased definitely in my gating tart list.

Vladimir Kalina I think was his name, never much cop but I did like georg hack, Milan Spinka, Roman Matusek and Nigel Flatman, all good for some surprising points at times.

Wasn't it Kalina who joined the witches the same time as fellow Czech Sam Tesar.
