Ipswich 2023

As the closest PL club track to me in Herne Bay suppose I should take more interest in Ippo . IF ever I could be bovvered guess its my obvious place to visit.  Sadly the racing at Foxhall has never inspired me in my 40+ years of following speedway, and the team line ups in recent years always seem to have a same old, same old, stale look about them. 2023 looks like the same. Back comes Danny King, Rohan Tungate, again. Must be cheap deals.   Always pleading poverty to be able to build a top side like the Belle Vue Aces, yet pin a large part of their allegedly small budget on THE top number 1 in the league.  Never been a fan of Chris Louis as  speedway promoter, but in his day a superb Speedway Rider. Seem to be a club  " just happy to be taking part " without ever really threatening to win much .

....and happy christmas to you also! you really are a  glass half empty sort of chap aren't you!

Let's be honest, your numerous negative comments about speedway means you won't be going to any meetings. You are one sad person, & would be better not posting on a site where the majority of forum users are proper speedway fans.

Are you saying those of us who have lost our tracks are no longer proper fans? Even though many will continue to buy the speedway star week in week out and watch as much of the sport online or on telly as possible?
Very strange considering the fragile nature of your own clubs future.

What constitutes a “proper” fan is always an interesting/sensitive subject and ultimately one without a right answer.

Even the negative comments come from a place of wanting the best for the sport I find and frustration at how it is being run. Ultimately nobody would be here if they didn’t care on some level.

I was commenting on one person who is very negative on a regular basis. Very strange that you have read it as a dig at fans who no longer have a team to support.

Tungate isn’t back. And apart from the save our speedway campaign 27 years ago haven’t pleaded poverty.
the club is run as a proper business and not a play thing or a tax loss

who knows what Doyle earns and it isn’t our business to know either. While foxhall isn’t a Belle vue track for passing it’s our track. Lakeside Rye house Eastbourne stoke Newcastle Coventry and many others would love to have a local track. I’m certainly grateful for my team and track.

This!

People should know by now that our team is sort of fumbled together most seasons,,, and we often struggle to fill the last couple of places. TBH I don't really mind if they finish the team off with say Batch and Heeps and start 2 points under, It didn't bother the crowd this season,, and I doubt it will bother the crowd next season.

Nothing again this morning so I think it’s safe to say we’re either working on a complicated deal or we’ve run in to issues and plan A is out the window and we’re searching for a plan B..

Possible complications with the Rew situation could be slowing the process down. I'm fearful these last 2 riders could be a little underwhelming. Hopefully I am wrong

Unfortunately the club has lacked ambition for a number of years. However as Baldyman says most won't give a rats and will turn up, usually to watch the opposition if they have a top rider. In Regards to budgets is it high or low and funded or not who knows? However I saw a certain Emil mentioned earlier in the thread. Now that would put bums on seats.

No chance of Emil, the majority of the budget is spent on Doyley

Riders not yet signed, as stated by Chris tonigh, hopefully sorted before Christmas.

If you listen carefully you can hear that pin dropping......the silence is concerning!

Running out of time if it’s done before Christmas. To be honest I’d rather he took his time now and explored all avenues. All the others have their team sorted except Peterborough who apparently have most of theirs signed up as well, so there’s little competition for riders. Could more than likely sign two of Worrall, Cook Andersen or Batch and be done with it so much rather he carried on making calls and see what develops.
