Just the one? Honestly can’t take any of this seriously the rules are so flaky and mostly get ignored/bent anyway.

Agree, there was only one figure at the time but undoubtedly there could be several now.

BSPA just need to post everyones starting average for the year, including all rising stars, would cut a lot of this nonsense out.

This should happen every winter but it does not, it’s like the BSPA wants to keep it a secret, just like those promoters who won’t publish starting line ups for matches because people might print off their own programmes.

The fans will find out eventually what everyone’s average is, might as well just tell everyone now so at least fans can speculate and play team manager over the cold winter months.

I'm thoroughly confused about the above comments regarding Brennan - I assumed he's the RS at BV for 2023?

Bewley 8.91, Kurtz 8.24, Wright 5.71, Blödorn 5.45, Lindsey 5.16, Etheridge 4.76 = 38.24 so just under the 39.00 limit.

Brennan is the RS, even though he starts in the main body of the team with his 5.86 Green Sheet ...

EDIT: Bagpuss has put me right on my error above ... not sure why I had Etheridge in the line-up!

Thought the RS was scrapped...?

Brennan and all the RS's from last year got a 25% reduction in their average but are not RS's this year...

(I think)...

But, you never know...:D

So, do we now think Hume or Mountain is in our 7,and not Worrall and maybe Zagar or Ellis at 5???

Its not been scrapped. The only one that was a rising star in 2022 but has moved into the 1-6 is Brennan (for now) with a 25% reduction on his average.

Belle Vue have Mulford as their rising star

We  already have a number 7. Thomas the RS

Sorry Baldy,I meant in our 7 not at number 7,meaning we could still have that big hitter at 5 ....maybe Mountain at 2 and a Zagar at 5??

I’m sure Zagar still commands a decent wedge, and he’s really not worth it these days IMO. His away GSA was over half a point less than King’s who had a poor year, and practically identical to Batchelor’s away GSA. A firm no from me. Would much rather put those funds to much better use.

so the championship promotor is wrong and young Richard is correct, never thought i would type such a thing

He’d have been working closely with Louis on team building so I’d expect him to know this sort of stuff or he should do. I know we all give him a bit of stick now and then, but he’s very approachable in person and on social media. I’ve asked him several things myself on Twitter and he’s always answered every question honestly. Louis used to be the same, but he’s very much a closed shop these days and rarely responds anymore. Maybe he was too open and has been told not to be who knows.

I'm not convinced on Zagar either, I just think Mountain and Zagar has a better ring to it than Worrall and Batchelor.

I also think we will know our 7 tomorrow, and let's hope their is a surprise at 5.

It is a shame the BSPL dont be more "open", as all it does, by not divulging information, is to give off the impression that they must be concerned about their own rationale used to set up the rules...

Maybe a little fearful that the rationale would be "ripped to bits" on the various social media channels and the letters page of the Speedway Star?

It does often appear that within a hour or so of some "rule or regulation" getting launched , the various overlooked obvious issues with it get brought up on here and other Speedway forums, so maybe there is a wariness to fully go public on their operating model given the feedback..?

You do get the odd promoter at club functions be more transparent so not really sure why the collective dont do the same via press releases..

It would paint them in a much more professional light...

Riders averages in particular are always something the "die hards" like to know and use the info to put together their own septets..

Not for me personally, but keeping your most loyal punters engaged is extremely important...

If neither Hume or mountain have a ride in top flight this season from the start then the rising star scheme has completely failed, two young English riders given an opportunity to gain experience in the top flight, take it and both do very well in 2021, now they’re told sorry lads, you did well but now you’re kicked to the kerb because you’re not allowed to ride at no.7 anymore.

how is that helping progress their careers in any way?
