Ipswich 2023

Still loved by the Poole massive though :D Ipswich's problems this year have been no consistent support for the top two. Hume & King far too inconsistent, Riss not contributed at all and Joe T kept in the side for far too long.

Trouble is he crumbles under pressure. He has conceded 5x 5-1s at home this season.  Also for Redcar he never seems to perform in the big heats.
also has a habit of racing his own teammates and can’t team ride or even look for his partner.
Over the years he has been a tremendous asset to the club but the time has come to move on for both parties.

That's as much down to the management then. When he rode for Poole last year he not only team rode but also topped the averages with Worrall.

So why did Poole keep worrall over king ? I do agree the management are partly responsible.

Because theyd promised Worrall his testimonial and Matt Ford wouldnt renege on it when the points limit was dropped from 42 to 40 points.

I think that's 27 from 16 which is 6.75

Pretty much bang on his average then

I think it's just people getting  frustrated when King gets beat by second strings/reserves who he should be beating, but like said the others ain't really doing their job either, Riss woeful most wks, and Rew not haps going as well as a lot people expected.

Fair enough. However, "bang on average" is just accepting King as he is - not as a guy who reckoned he himself could push on this year.  He's not to blame for all the problems, but he set himself up to fail, because you would hope that such a phenomenal top two would spur him on and give him the space to improve - but he hasn't.

He regularly touches or breaks the tapes in pressure races for Redcar.

What did you expect? His average is his average, it's the losses against second strings in close matches at home which people notice. Wins against Peterborough don't really count:D

Lots of comments here that have summed up the situation really well... I think two other significant factors with Danny King are... 1. As captain he doesn't come across that he has fire in his belly... his interviews or the coin toss are always mild mannered at best, which is just his character I guess.  So maybe he shouldn't be put in that position and the Witches hand the armband to Doyle, who many would have as skipper if given a choice.  2. It's been mentioned earlier in this thread, but staleness is a major factor.  He knows he's in the team regardless - Fans want to be excited when team building rolls around, not let out a collective groan when the rider they 99.9999% expected to be in is announced.

He was hidden from Number 5 last year when we only had Doyle as an out and out heat leader. Batch had to take on the responsibility and at home done his job most of the time but struggled away. People who haven't been foxhall for last couple of seasons just looking at his average. If you saw it live you'd realize why everyone's moaning about him at home

Have a look at Kings record at home in heat 12 up against the opposition number 3 and a reserve ….. see how many times he has been on the wrong end of a 5-1 …. See how many times the opposition number 3 beats him

He has beat Ellis though lol

His average is relatively healthy as he's almost guaranteed 4 points minimum each meeting, just from beating Riss and Thompson/Hume who are all struggling.

Then he has the two other reserves to beat meaning he will usually get 6 without breaking a sweat.

The odd decent trap at home will mean he'll beat most no 4's in ht 3 and the odd race win in 12 at home giving him 7/8 points for little effort. Means he looks like he's scoring well and hitting a decent average but the reality is he's not beating anyone of note to justify a 'heat leader' role.

7 times in 12 home meetings heat 12 has seen a heat advantage to the away team. He was evening on the wrong end of a heat 12 1-5 v Kings Lynn

Confidence is still way off... He looked so nervy when anyone got close to him and then of course they sail by!

Riss looked like he put some effort in last night, but didn't look quick enough.
