If you look at their 2022 GSA’s, Kemp wasn’t a million miles away from Flint who everyone is saying is far and away the strongest rising star. Also factor in that Kemp was riding as the senior reserve despite being on the rising star list himself. Kemp IMO was one of if not THE plum pick, and nobody has picked him..

I don't think Flint is though, not at Wolves. He might be if he was at one of the big tracks.

He's quite clearly the best of the seven in the Championship but as it stands I just don't see it in the Prem. I'd say its quite close between Flint, D Thompson, Edwards, Jenkins & Gilkes with the other two slightly below them as it stands.

There's obviously a good reason(s) why Kemp hasn't been picked, we'll probably never be privy to them but as you say something doesn't quite add up.

As I understood it, if a rider's choice is to compete in the Premiership outside of the 'Rising Star' system they then cannot go back in to it in following seasons.

May be wrong though

Yeah, Drew is on the RS list

It does seem strange why Kemp wasn't brought in, an Ipswich asset who made his club debut at 16 and was seen as the next big thing. Seemed to have been highly regarded by Louis but something has changed.

Maybe it's an attitude thing, maybe Kemp doesn't want to be at Ipswich at this stage or maybe Poland is the place he wants to concentrate on, who knows.

Is it practice day today?

Pretty much agree with all you've said. Riding at number 6 is a lot harder than the RS spot, so Kemp should've been looking at putting a point on his Prem ave if signed.

I agree...would  have been good  in the R.S position ....No 6 is a lot harder and more pressure  to score points...

I don’t buy the theory he doesn’t want to ride for Ipswich, why wouldn’t he? He hasn’t got a ride anywhere, even if Ipswich wasn’t his first choice he’d take it now if offered no doubt about it. Louis clearly doesn’t want to use him. Even Hawkins today in the Speedway star says they wanted to move away from what they’ve tried before and freshen up the rising star position.

Yes press and practice day today, although whether the track is ok for practice after all the rain lately and overnight last night who knows.

That reason makes no sense to me, can't imagine them dropping Doyle & saying they wanted to move away from what they've tried before and freshen up the number one position!

If that comment makes no sense at the top of the team, then it also makes no sense at the bottom of the team!

I guess they've got to try & explain their reasons somehow, can't really say they've signed the strongest RS available can they?

The gamble on Thompson could come back and bite Louis/Hawkins on the backside if he doesn't do the business after a few meetings coz Kemp/Rowe might say thanks but no thanks if they come along with an offer of a team place, they both might say we wasn't in your plans first time around so unlucky.

No. The best RS available was Drew Kemp, plain and simple. But, at the end of the day it’s Louis’ choice. He’s decided Kemp or Rowe for that matter, isn’t who he wants in his team this year. He’ll have his reasons for that and we have to accept that we don’t know exactly what they are. I’d rule out a monetary issue, the club are backed heavily and if Louis wanted Kemp they’d pay the dollar.

At the end of the season if we haven't won anything,,, they certainly can't say we put the best team together that we could,,,cos they haven't.  Seems strange going through all that effort getting Emil,, and then not finishing the team off properly.  I guess that's another couple of riders to add to the won't be riding for Ipswich in the future list,,

A lot depends on Hume, has had steady progression over the last few seasons, probably have 5 rides most meetings, if Joe gets a point or 2 probably job done, will make for some interesting last 4 or 5 heats in most Ipswich matches though.
