With the riders available, that's a terrible signing imo.

Especially when you compare his home / away split for Leicester 5.62 (6.64) vs 1.94 (2.71) in the Champ.

Maybe Kemp and Rowe didnt want to ride 4 Ipswich...

I find that very hard to believe in Kemp's case, Rowe I can see being happier in Poland. If you're right Connor Bailey would be my 3rd pick then Joe.

Give the poor lad a chance. Nobody knows until he starts racing for the club.

Maybe neither kemp or rowe want to ride for rising star money this season? At least Joe will be riding championship in uk as well. With kemp and rowe both not riding championship it’s not many meeting on uk type tracks only doing prem for riders of their experience. Still it’s a surprise

See what Ipswich have done there.

Saved a few hundred on a new race suit & permanent-markers a line down the 'a' & written 'o' 'n'. Thomas >Thompson

Just got Emil & Jason in the team but can't afford a race-suit for the new guy the cheap b@stereds

Tin pot club ;)

Nurse! Nurse! Medication required for Mr Smith

As Phil says attitude is a big factor and Ipswich would know having worked with Kemp and Rowe before. Thompson the next cab off the rank effectively.

And also he has a Champ team whereas Kemp and Rowe don't unless they are going to be in the Poole team, so more race fit.

Interesting choice. Maybe they've decided they can afford to "carry" a rider with less experience, although of course what appears to be an excellent set-up with regard to his previous and ongoing development.  Positive personality, desire to learn and improve, plus a professional approach with a back-up team that will also work closely with the club is what's required for a Rising Star.

These Wolves fans are feisty :D

Based on seeing them both a few times and it being my opinion.. when you add in the fact Flint has to ride that Wolves track every week its a decent bet Gilkes will end up ahead of him

I hope Ipswich stick with Hume throughout the season rather than sacking him mid-season considering he won't be able to carry Joe Thompson.

Big drop off from Jack Thomas and it goes to show that Chris Louis won't be signing riders with attitude problems even if they are a better rider (Kemp & Rowe)

Why would Hume be the fall guy?  On the basis that Sayfutdinov will up his average, and either or both King & Riss could do the same in a successful team, there won't be any scope to replace, other than another Rising Star.

As said earlier, they must think that Thompson can be carried while he learns and improves - it's what the Rising Star is all about.

i really do not understand why we did not start the season with either an open meeting such as the Billy Sanders memorial of a friendly. This year with three riders who have not ridden the track before and another returning from injury it makes more sense than ever to give them some track time before riding a league meeting. It 's been said in the past that these meetings do not attract the crowds to make it financially viable, that cannot be the case this year with with supporters anxious to see Emil and Keynan.

Young Brits always seem to be the fall guys when it comes to team changes.

Based on watching Joe at Leicester over the past 3 years. This is only my humble opinion. He has always been a very shy & quiet spoken lad .

Joe was the better of the twins in their first season in the NDL (2019) he had a-lot of determination & was very brave when making passes.
Covid hit & there was a long lay off when speedway resumed Dan was head & heels above Joe . In 2022 from June he seemed to lack motivation & looked disinterested when riding anywhere away from Leicester . His form picked up slightly towards the play offs of 2022 where he looked faster & picked up 4-6 point scores, I feel he will really struggle in the Premiership but Ipswich can afford to carry him.

He will score well on 30th March because he will beat Sedgmen & Allen round Leicester but heat 2 certainly will be interesting because it will be the first time Dan & Joe have raced in a league meeting against each other & also their dad mechanics for both of them.
