Ipswich 2023

Recommended Posts

“Last November, the Polish Ekstraliga agreed that three Russians who have Polish passports- Laguta Emil Sayfutdinov and Andrey Kudriashov - could sign 2023 contracts with top flight clubs”

”Full clearance for them to race next season will only be given after each rider has agreed to a set of conditions, which includes they will not take legal action against the PZM for loss of earnings.

“It is also believed another condition of returning is that the riders show their opposition to the war and also agree not to compete in any other league - a restriction that will end Sayfutdinov’s efforts to find a British Club.

“He has been heavily linked to a return to this country but would not be able to race in the Premiership unless Ekstraliga bosses drop the conditions under which the trio of Russians can return to racing regularly in Poland”.

Speedway Star. So there we have it, the Poles have put the kebosh on that one. Highly unlikely they drop these conditions and the riders are not going to kick up a fuss either and potentially lose their places back in the Ekstraliga. Time to move on me thinks..

Exactly what I read on the Polish site ages ago.

Have to question why Louis has been chasing Emil when he's basically had a 0% chance from the get go.

Like you said Emil isn't going to kick up a fuss just for a British pay packet when Poland pay mega money and they're the only reason why he's getting some track time in 2023.

Not sure it was Louis doing the chasing judging by those comments.

So this is again all about the dictatorship of the Poles and ceases to be about the stance against the war. If they were continuing to make a stand against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and banned all Russians from riding anywhere including Poland then fair enough. But effectively banning them from riding anywhere but allowing them to ride in their own league again is a complete nonsense.

Even if the Polish/FIM obstacle is overcome Emil would still need a visa and I guess the Home Office might take a little longer convincing that Emil is not a pro-Russian warmongering moneylaundering oligarch than (say) Ben Basso.

The FIM are involved. They are fighting it. Emil wants Ipswich. Ipswich want Emil.

There is still 2 month to fight this. It’s not over yet

Fingers crossed not just for us, but the league in general. I’m sure everybody would like to see him at their track. Without a doubt would add to the gate receipts everywhere.

Torun can then release Emil for breach of contract.

Torun have Matej Zagar on a Warsaw contract so they won't need to scramble around to find a replacement.

Why? Non-speedway fans don't even know the sport, let alone the "top" riders - I would have thought that if there's lots of marketing for Sayfutdinov, it would generate more protests than additional support.

Well obviously I wasn’t talking about “non speedway fans” lovey why on earth would I think people who are not in to speedway would suddenly go to see someone they don’t know? You know full well what I was saying.

Exactly this... they can then say well we don't want to sign you anymore so go ride for Ipswich.... i highly doubt Emil would do that!! Doesn't matter who is involved Torun don't have to put him in the team!!
