I put this on the Lynn thread yesterday wondering why the first leg of the final against Lynn hasn't been pencilled in for next Thursday as they both don't have a meeting.Could be at Sheffield next Thursday and whenever at Lynn as they can have the track any day of the week bar stock car meetings providing all riders are available of course. At the end of the day though we shouldn't even be talking about squeezing in meetings at the end of the season when we have so few anyway.

It's quite amazing really when you consider the long hot summer we've had and only 6 teams in the league and here we are struggling to fulfill all the fixtures.

The most sensible thing to do for credibilitys sake is Sheffield forfit against Ipswich and give them 4 points.   This should be made a rule,,,, I bet teams would re arrange their fixtures better in future if that was the case

You can't just make up rules as you go along.:D

It is amazing. The league campaign started at the beginning of May leaving 21 Thursdays available for Sheffield. The SON took care of one but they were scheduled to ride two of them on a Monday including this week's postponement leaving 12 Thursdays free. On four Thursdays they rode away and a further three were used for the Pairs. There were another three which were postponed due to the weather/stadium unavailability leaving all of two, one of which was used for a league cup match brought forward from April owing to an earlier postponement leaving one Thursday unused.

Strange why they are not  against Ipswich next Thursday to see who finishes top

They could've changed tonights meeting to be against Ipswich instead of Belle Vue, so lets hope it gets rained off in the best interests of the sport!!!!

I don't think they can run against the play offs.

If they can't run against the play offs then the match against Lynn must surely have to be on an off night. If not that only leaves 17th and 20th of October to get it completed.

I think a rain off will pretty much suit everyone involved

I think BSPL will want to make sure it's definitely on and Sheffield win, if that doesn't happen then interesting how they will explain rumour about semis.

We made late decision not to bother going, if they do manage to get it on (which last time they couldn't when drier for longer) it will only be wet conditions, hopefully no injuries.

If BV win at Sheffield and at KL, they could finish top ...

They could certainly. But it won't matter a jot for who they get in the play offs as the position in the league after tonight will determine that.

We've also made the decision not to go and we're only 5 miles from the track! There was a lot of rain a couple of hours ago and it's been drizzling for the last hour. The worst of the rain forecast is between 7 and 9! Think they're determined to get this on even if it means waiting to ride heats between the worst of the rain and complete 10 heats to get a result. That means this might go on until around 10 pm and be completely devoid of any racing and entertainment, and I'm not prepared to waste my time with that. They had around 5 to 6 hours on 25th August to prepare the track, on what was a beautiful afternoon and evening and couldn't be ar$ed. So afraid I can't be tonight. Hope I'm wrong for all those who turned out tonight, but we're not bothering.

Picture the scene...

The meeting goes ahead in the rain, and heat 9 has just been raced. Riders come out for heat 10 where we all know once completed the meeting will be abandoned and result will stand with Sheffield leading.

Then the air fence deflates all by itself... the highly trained Sheffield track staff are unable to fix the issue,  the match has to be abandoned without a result as the curfew hits...

If Carlsberg did speedway....
