The calling off/carrying on decision lies solely with the referee and, to a lesser extent, the Clerk of the Course. Would it not make sense if before heat 10 only the winning team could ask for a track inspection, then after heat 10 only the losing team could ask for a track inspection? That way you'd know it was due to track conditions & not hoping for a postponement / declared result!

This resulted in Glasgow sitting twiddling their thumbs for a couple of weeks while the 3rd to 6th placed teams settled their quarter-final ties. If the much-derided Play Off system has to be retained to provide much needed extra income, the BSPA simply MUST revert to a "top four only to qualify" next year (if indeed there are still 4 clubs solvent with access to stadiums!). That way, all of the top 4 teams can immediately get on with arranging their semi-final ties. Let the 5th and 6th placed clubs arrange home and away fixtures, if they like, for further income and bragging rights. Well since the exact same thing happened last year with Poole sitting waiting for the Leicester vs Scunthorpe QF to be completed, I can't see why it would change now! If they didn't learn from their mistakes last year, what makes you think they'll learn from them now? Not a fan of play-offs (think league leaders should be champs) but if there here make it top 2/4/8/16 etc. qualify!

There is a precedent. 2017 NDL Play off final 13 heats at Eastbourne result stood after fog 15 heats at Belle Vue. Belle Vue won on aggregate had 2 more home races. But Glasgow needed to race as soon as they can (rider availability withstanding) with the trophy final & potentially a play-off final to race too! Perhaps he should stage it at Poole, they seem to be able to hold benefit meetings at the expense of official fixtures.

marko
A division of 9 or 10 teams should not have six in the play offs, it should have been top four. And in the higher division with six clubs, it should have been 2nd and 3rd play off to meet the team who came 1st
