Glasgow v Poole/Plymouth Sunday 25 September 2022 - Semi-final Championship Play offs

No, it is only the losing team that may request -- with no guarantee such request will be met -- a track inspection.

The calling off/carrying on decision lies solely with the referee and, to a lesser extent, the Clerk of the Course.

Would it not make sense if before heat 10 only the winning team could ask for a track inspection, then after heat 10 only the losing team could ask for a track inspection?

That way you'd know it was due to track conditions & not hoping for a postponement / declared result!

Surely a major contributory factor in the delay to staging the Glasgow/Poole semi-finals was the adoption of "the top 6 teams to qualify for the Play Offs". This resulted in Glasgow sitting twiddling their thumbs for a couple of weeks while the 3rd to 6th placed teams settled their quarter-final ties. If the much-derided Play Off system has to be retained to provide much needed extra income, the BSPA simply MUST revert to a "top four only to qualify" next year (if indeed there are still 4 clubs solvent with access to stadiums!). That way, all of the top 4 teams can immediately get on with arranging their semi-final ties. Let the 5th and 6th placed clubs arrange home and away fixtures, if they like, for further income and bragging rights.

Well since the exact same thing happened last year with Poole sitting waiting for the Leicester vs Scunthorpe QF to be completed, I can't see why it would change now!

If they didn't learn from their mistakes last year, what makes you think they'll learn from them now?

Not a fan of play-offs (think league leaders should be champs) but if there here make it top 2/4/8/16 etc. qualify!

Give it a rest, you can’t change the starting time every couple of days because of a changing weather forecast.Scotland is notorious for its localised weather pattern because of the nature of the terrain.

you get four season in one day up here

Problem with making sure both legs have equal amount of races is:

1) if a match in cancelled after 14 heats due to rain, do you re-run the whole meeting again?

2) if Glasgow got to heat 10 & was then cancelled, can't expect Poole to advertise a 10 heat 2nd leg & expect the same amount of fans to turn up!

There is a precedent.

2017 NDL Play off final

13 heats at Eastbourne result stood after fog

15 heats at Belle Vue.

Belle Vue won on aggregate had 2 more home races.

Will not get to the re staging now as it is Robbos Testimonial night so no Craig Cook either and not enough time to do both.

Robbo's meeting has been cancelled!

In his statement, he said the Ashfield re-staging, taking two more riders out his line-up, was the last straw......

I feel for Robbo, especially being a Rye House fan. But Glasgow needed to race as soon as they can (rider availability withstanding) with the trophy final & potentially a play-off final to race too!

Isn't that what happened on Sunday night when Glasgow were winning at heat six?

Perhaps he should stage it at Poole, they seem to be able to hold benefit meetings at the expense of official fixtures. ;)

Should try staging it at the start of the 2023 season. As he deserves it, good servant to British speedway.
