Just when the refereeing is under scrutiny we get a clueless decision. How can they come up with these decisions

011.1.6 Starting Offence
The following are deemed to be starting offences: -
a) failure to meet the 2 minute time allowance
b) not obeying the Start Marshals instructions
c) when a rider’s motorcycle or any part of their body or equipment touches or breaks the starting tapes whilst the green starting light is on or prevents the raising of the start gate
d) returning to the pits, as detailed above under 011.1.3
e) delaying the start in any other manner, or who prevents the starting gate from being released properly

He didn’t prevent the raising of the gate. It had already been released.

In which case he should have been excluded. Poor ref who should know better.

He broke the tapes after the gate went up and the green light was off. The rule was like this when I was watching speedway at Rye House in the 90s. I have never seen the rule applied any other way.

He broke the tapes after the gate went up and the green light was off. The rule was like this when I was watching speedway at Rye House in the 90s. I have never seen the rule applied any other way.

Ref should have let it go.
