racers and royals
The FIM in conjunction with DMV Landesgruppe Südbayern, the organiser of this weekend’s 2023 FIM Ice Speedway World Championship finals at Inzell, is pleased to announce that next year’s finals will return to the Max Aicher Arena in the German city on 23-24 March 2024. The organisers have been an integral part of the FIM Ice Speedway World Championship since 1968 and with eleven-thousand fans in attendance this weekend this new agreement will extend their involvement, further raising the sport’s profile. Armando Castagna, FIM Track Racing Commission Director, said: “The FIM Ice Speedway World Championship has been suffering a lot in the last three years and we are delighted to see the light at the end of the tunnel by announcing a fifty-sixth collaboration with Inzell and DMSB for 2024. The Max Aicher Arena is a fantastic stadium for Ice Speedway and the DMV Landesgruppe Südbayer team members are very skilled people. We can see again this year the level of organisation and the FIM Track Racing Commission is very excited to work again with such experienced people. I'm personally delighted and I really hope that Inzell will be on our Ice Speedway calendar for many years to come." Kai Schmiedeknecht, DMV Landesgruppe Südbayern CEO, stated: “Ice speedway fans can look forward to top events in Inzell. On 23-24 March 2024 the world elite will meet again in the Max Aicher Arena to hold exciting races there. Even before the current FIM Ice Speedway World Championship final, the DMV Landesgruppe Südbayern agreed with the FIM on another very successful cooperation that had existed since 1968. The professional and constructive cooperation between the FIM and the DMV Landesgruppe Südbayern has achieved spectacular results over the decades. We are proud to be able to host a world championship in Germany and to welcome the international racing circuit here in Bavaria.” FIM and DMV Landesgruppe Südbayern Communications

The commentators at their live official feed didn`t even know it. No only a run-off for 1st place... "The final overall ISG classification In case of riders involved in a tie on the final overall ISG classification, at the end of the ISG series, the following will apply: 1. Run-off for 1 st place. For all other placings: Precedence will be given to the rider having the greatest amount of ISG 1st place results, followed by 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on in the current season. If the tie still persists precedence will be given to the rider with the highest final classification at the last round of the current season." Already messed up the scoring system now having reduced the World Championship from 23 heats to 21 heats they bring this in. It really need someone in the organisation with a bit of back bone to stand up for the sport rather a bunch of yes people!!! Glad I didn`t bother going. To be honest I found the event to be a bit of an anti-climax. Without the Russians I was expecting it to be a lot closer but in the end Haarahiltunen completely dominated (well done to him by the way). As controversial as it may be the World Championship is missing the quality of racing the Russians bring. Zorn and Simon are past their best, plus Zorn was still suffering the after effects of Covid, so he said. Plus Weber also suffering. Still, 11,000 over the weekend is a healthy crowd, who probably don't really care much
