I know it's easy to say in hindsight but maybe something as simple as the seating strategy should be looked at in any future hearings, they went for a 5-1 strategy and got 1-5'd maybe a 3-3 or 4-2 should be the way to go to not get timed out. Given that the first 2 speakers had no link to the last 2 it would have been sensible to have agreed 3 minutes each. Nothing was in place to stop the first chap speaking for 15 mins if he has wanted to

Sir Sidney
Well done to Councillors for identifying, and then officers confirming that, with a single entrance onto and off of the proposed development, then any emergency would cause gridlock 1
Youhave2minutes
So no speedway incorporated in the development plans. Buster not interested finding a suitable replacement. So where do the consortium go from here? Looks like the end of. Edited October 15 by Youhave2minutes
Sir Sidney
Well done to the Save Peterborough team for putting up arguments to defeat the application for 650 houses on the track site. No doubt this will now go to appeal, but well done to the Chair of the Committee for saying, not directly in these words, that AEPG should have done more to comply with the Local Plan and NPPF to retain existing facilities. The war may not have been won, but at least the Save Peterborough team will be able to fight on. Well done
TTT
The fight's not over yet but we've got AEPG on the ropes now, More hope than ever before. Well done to all involved in the fight to save Peterborough Speedway, Their passion doesn't go unnoticed and everyone appreciates the effort they've all put in even if we don't say it enough.

Panther1997
Thank you to all involved today, especially to all the speakers and the passion they showed for our club. Also a big vote of thanks to the Chair of the committee, I believe he really did sway the votes of some of the committee, with his passion for the showground facility. As for that Cllr Fitzgerald, the less said the better, he must be friends with Mr Butterfield who flapped his way through all afternoon, getting people who are obviously more qualified than him to fights his battles as he couldn’t fight them himself! OldNutter
Well done guys. The plan must now to make sure that the track stays in whatever plans they come up with next. Butterfield went for the greedy option and got the biggest lump of houses and the leisure buildings for his pension fund, but the piece of land with the track, pits and stand survived pretty-well as is. (or what they have left has) The second FAILED application could be made viable if is brought back next time with the track in it. In the meeting, it was pointed out that the likes of Belle Vue has a track inside a housing development so it can be done. Oxford and Birmingham are not exactly out in the countryside eitther. Maybe the planning officers and councillors at PCC could make that clear to Butterfielld. That way, Butterfield gets his pension fund and we get our speedway without having to build anythig new! I wonder if the council would help and maybe Butterfield would put a 4/G pitch in the centre green? If they did that they would almost certainly get permission for the remaining houses ( or most of them), comply with the Local Pan and NPPF and still make a significantly large sum of money. Everyone wins that way

Everybody gets what they want that way
