Peterborough Panthers 2023

I did expect Basso to kick on this season and so far I've been wrong.

It still doesn't shy away from the fact that despite being told he shouldn't be a heat leader by Rob Lyon and others they went and panicked by signing Worrall so he had to be one.

Peterborough like Busters other team King's Lynn look in poor shape, definitely them two for the bottom 2.

On the subject of the pending closure, I was glad Rob Lyon spoke up to mention he was dissapointed about the distinct lack of fight to keep the club going.

The Peterborough track and stadium is one of the best around in my opinion and more of a fight should be happening to retain it. I can't see why the track and stadium can't be included in the new leisure pans for the Showground especially since the indoor Arena is remaining and speedway has been a Peterborough and Cambridgeshire institution since 1970. Indeed I was listening to live coverage of Wolves V Panthers on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire tonight!

Just a thought here, so please don't quote me on it.

Working in the construction industry I understand the importance placed on carbon reduction wherever possible.

Maybe, as part of the proposed plans and if they get approved planning conditions are that the development has to be delivered to net zero carbon standards i.e air source heat pumps, pv panels etc etc.

If they are seen to be promoting speedway for the proposed leisure plans this could jeopardise the planning conditions.

Im not saying speedway is the biggest offender in terms of carbon output but, it certainly isn't a tree hugging sport by any means.

As I say guys, just a thought. I don't know the ins and outs of the proposed development but, I do know construction in 2023 and carbon neutral / net zero carbon is a big thing.

That’s exactly what you and Flappy were predicting him to be this year at the start of the season. “One of the real big guns” wasn’t it? Now after a poor start you’re making excuses.

Oh I bet they’ll be devastated about that!

Should be as he is only going to improve. As team managers have already said this season and neither of them were Middlo! Gavin Parr said the Cook's are 'going to explode this year' in regard to Champ obviously and Rob Lyon said he could see Ben Cook is going to do what Basso did last year.

I agree that we've got a lot of underperformers, I'm just saying that Basso needs to be partnered with a strong No.3 who can a couple of races per meeting.

With Richie 3 of his 4 wins came at Leicester where he's a track specialist other than that his scores aren't up to scratch for a No.3 which is no surprise considering he's a No.2/No.6 that's being asked to ride at No.3.

Need someone to do a job like Danny King at No.3 in order to take the pressure off Basso.

You could switch RW with Hans, that way Hans will be taking the flack ;) I know it isn't the answer btw. You have a team of No 2/6's apart from NKI.

KK would flourish around the Showground.

Lots of things would flourish at the Showground due the unusually rich vein of bullsh!t available there

We have to be realistic.

Play-offs are gone now and we're not beating Ipswich in the cup because Emil, Doyle and King will put up 70+ points between them over the two legs considering the state our 1-7 is in.

Our season is now all about making sure we stop the losing streak by beating KL at least once because I can't see us beating anyone else with our 1-7.

Sign whoever Leicester release as our No.1 because it's the best we're going to get unfortunately even if does turn out be Harris (Just can't see Buster splashing out big cash now for an Ekstraliga rider)

Sign Rohan Tungate for Richie Worrall who will put in Heat Leader shifts at Home which will then take the pressure off Ben Basso.

Sign the here and now journey man Craig Cook as a replacement for Ben Cook who'll get us 8+ a meeting at reserve almost every week because theirs no point in continuing with the Ben Cook deal considering Ben is a rider who'll come good in the future, A future that the club doesn't have.

Hans has been good this season apart from his usual shocker at the NSS.

Where's Worrall has been crap every week apart from the visit to Beaumont Park where he's a track specialist, Take out the Leicester trip then Richie has only scored 15+1 from 13 rides.

I don't think he's cheap, but would do a good job for you at home. Not if Lynn have to take RW to make you stronger though. Leicester might want him ?.

This really makes me laugh........... RW has out scored Basso everywhere........... yet the flak is still headed Richies way with excuse upon excuse being heaped on Basso.

I think some really need to wake-up and "smell the coffee" for a change!!!

Basso has struggled but still has a far higher ceiling this season than Worrall who's on an inflated average

If Richie was good / worth his average then why didn't KL retain him? Could easily have signed Richie instead of Mr. I cba half of the time KK.

The reality is we need two big hitters on 8ish averages to replace NP and one of BB/RW. If you replace NP and RW you have 16.17 to play with and if you replace NP and BB you have 16.51 but we cant find 1 so we certainly aren't going to be able to find 2!

Laguta and Zagar both willing to ride in the UK for starters

Well Zagar agreed a deal and then wanted more. The last thing i read about it on here was that Buster was going to ask a sponsor for help.  Did the said sponsor say no then ? I would imagine Laguta is more expensive than NP's reported £3.5k a meeting as well. Back over to the sponsor;)

Depends on how much Buster is willing to spend and who gets released by Leicester, Our season can easily be turned around it's just a case of whether the management want to turn our campaign around.

Fricke 8.27
Andersen 5.19
Tungate 6.61
Basso 6.61
NKI 6.97
C. Cook 4.92
Jenkins (RS)

= 38.57

or

Harris 7.64
Andersen 5.19
NKI 6.97
Basso 6.61
Zagar 7.20
C. Cook 4.92
Jenkins (RS)

= 38.53
